Best of: A Texas Christmas Classic

On December 23, 1927, a gang of men led by Santa Claus robbed a bank and set off one of the largest manhunts in the history of Texas. It is one of the most astonishing stories of infamy and ineptitude in the history of crime.

Texas Boot Stories Volume One: The Makers

Mexican Governors of Texas: Part Two

Mexican Governors of Texas: Part Two

It's easy to imagine that Texas sprang into being just in time for the Texas Revolution, but it was actually part of another revolution before that. For thirteen years, Texas was under the control of Mexico and the men in charge of the state were often as idealistic—and flawed—as the men who would run the Republic of Texas after them. Today is part two of the Mexican Governors of Texas.

Bonnie & Clyde part 1 & 2

I just started listening to the Wise About Texas podcast and I started with Bonnie & Clyde part 1&2. I really enjoyed hearing the detailed history of these outlaws. There’s a lot of myths about these two, however Ken Wise describes them in as they really were, killers. I like his style of telling history. I plan to listen to a lot more of his Texas history podcasts.

Entertaining and well executed podcast

Pennsylvanian here who has loved Texas history since reading "The Story of the Alamo" and watching Davy Crockett as a kid. Love the variety of topics particularly the Alamo related topics and Texas Rangers. I really need to visit San Antonio someday.

Excellent history and commentary

I’ve been listening on my way to and from work in Louisville, KY. Thank you. This podcast is great: history, culture, politics, people, geography, etc. of America’s greatest state. Love it! Most importantly, you all are very informative. Would like to hear a show on what the rest of USA thinks of Texans (stereotypes vs reality). Also, maybe a podcast on books about Texas like Lawrence Wright’s “God save Texas.” Thanks. Keep up great work.
