Great Interviewer With Thought-Provoking Questions
06/06/2018
I've never heard someone so thoughtful and measured in there questions and coverage. The topics covered are in-depth but always with the sights set on how we can be more inclusive, respectful, and meaningful toward one another. Comics is a community and Paul is one voice in that community... but man, is it a voice that we all should be paying attention to.

I don’t listen to every episode... (generally just the episodes covering comics that I enjoy) ... but it is exciting to hear comics discussed on this level. 🔥💯🔥
In depth, in touch

I recently discovered this podcast and have been enjoying getting to know Paul and his various co-hosts and guests more and more. I really appreciate the range of content offered through this podcast, as it really does everything other comics podcasts do, plus a bit more. Some comics podcasts tend to focus on weekly or monthly releases, and offer frequent quick reviews of books, while others focus whole episodes on trade paperbacks, and graphic novels. The Comics Syllabus manages to do both! Paul has created a podcast that somehow brings together in depth reviews of books, quick reviews of monthly books on his pull list, extended interviews with creators and critics, and a monthly trade waiting rundown. It’s really quite a feat. Another big reason I enjoy it so much is Paul’s unique perspective as a life-long comic reader and also an English teacher and literacy researcher, he has a LOT to offer folks of all backgrounds who are interested in comics. There is even more to this podcast than what I have mentioned here, (wait until you hear the podcast magic of Co-Host Kid) but you should really just start listening. I’d recommend trying a few different episodes out before you decide if it’s for you or not, as the content can vary quite a bit. So yeah, 5 stars. :) -Tom
