Let Bill's Home Service Prevent Weeds (Aired 2026-7-7)

How to Beat the Monsoon Weeds Every summer, Tucson residents eagerly welcome the monsoon season for its much-needed relief from the desert heat. But those welcome rains come with a catch — dormant weed seeds buried just below the soil surface are also waiting for that moisture, and they spring to life the moment it arrives. What Is Pre-Emergent Weed Control? The most effective way to get ahead of monsoon weeds is with a pre-emergent weed control treatment — applied before weeds ever begin to grow. This treatment creates a chemical barrier in the soil that prevents weed seeds from germinating, stopping the problem at its source rather than chasing it after the fact. When to Apply Timing is everything with pre-emergent treatment. There are two key windows each year: Summer: June through July — right before and as monsoon moisture begins to arrive. Proper application now should significantly reduce the number of weeds that appear in August and September.Winter: December through January — to get ahead of cool-season weed growth. Why Choose Professional Treatment? While store-bought pre-emergent products are available, professional treatment from Bill's Home Service delivers measurable advantages: Proper application rate — ensures the treatment is both safe and effectiveEven coverage — uniform distribution across your property for consistent resultsLocal expertise — years of experience with Tucson's varying soils, landscaping styles, plants, and weed species means the right product is applied the right way Contact Bill's Home Service Have questions or ready to schedule? Rob Clark shares valuable insights into the latest scams targeting residents, including fraudulent party invitations delivered by email or text that can install malware or steal personal information. 4th of July Safety Tips for Your Pets from the Animal League of Green Valley (Aired 2026-7-1)

In this special Independence Day interview, Kim Eisele, President of The Animal League of Green Valley, reframes the meaning of “freedom” through the lens of animal rescue—describing it as safety, compassion, and the chance for every pet to live without fear. She highlights the stark contrast the holiday brings for animals, as fireworks often trigger intense anxiety in dogs, leading to a surge in lost pets and increased strain on local shelters. Eisele explains why these loud celebrations can be so distressing and underscores the critical role shelters play during this high-risk time. The conversation offers practical, life-saving advice for pet owners, including how to prepare homes, recognize signs of stress, and create a calm, secure environment before, during, and after fireworks. Eisele also addresses broader challenges facing animal rescue organizations, from overcrowding to limited resources, while emphasizing how The Animal League of Green Valley is meeting these needs through community support, volunteerism, and ongoing initiatives. Throughout the interview, Eisele shares a heartfelt rescue story that captures the organization’s mission in action and inspires listeners to consider adoption. She outlines future goals and encourages families to think carefully about pet ownership, especially after the holiday weekend. Closing with a message of unity and compassion, Eisele calls on the Green Valley community to protect vulnerable animals, support local rescue efforts, and help ensure that every pet has a chance at a safe and loving home.

Retirement Living at Its Best: Vista Pointe at Green Valley (Aired 2026-7-1)

Vista Pointe INTRO Guy: Hello and welcome to Living Well at Vista Pointe at Green Valley. Today I am joined by Julie Hansen, Sales Director at Vista Pointe, and today we're having a wonderful conversation about what life is really like at Vista Pointe. When families begin exploring senior living options, one of the most valuable perspectives comes from someone who is living the experience every day. That's why I'm delighted to be joined by a resident who lives in Vista Pointe. Introduce Mr. Dick Moffett Dick: Thank you, I'm happy to share my experience. GETTING TO KNOW THE RESIDENT Guy: Let's start by having you tell our listeners a little bit about yourself. Dick: I was born in 1935 in Bisbee, AZ. Raised in the Ft. Huachuca Mountains. Then went to work in the Mines for 45 years and retired to Amado AZ in 2000. Before moving to Vista Pointe, I lived independently in my home for 26 years. As time went on, I realized I was older and needed less responsibility and more opportunities to socialize and enjoy life Julie: What initially prompted you to explore senior living? Dick Two years ago, I found that maintaining my home was becoming more work than I wanted. I was spending a lot of time on chores and less time doing things I enjoyed. My wife and I began looking at options that would provide support while allowing me to remain active and independent. Which started me thinking about assisted living communities. CHOOSING VISTA POINTE Guy: There are many choices available. What stood out about Vista Pointe at Green Valley? Dick: I first looked at 5 different communities and chose Vista Pointe. From my first visit, the atmosphere felt welcoming. The staff genuinely cared about residents, and everyone I met seemed happy and engaged. It felt more like a family neighborhood than a facility. Julie: Many families are concerned about making a major life transition. How was your move-in experience? Dick: Honestly, I was nervous. Change can be difficult. Julie and the staff made the transition much easier than I expected. They helped me get settled, introduced me to other residents, and made me feel at home very quickly. SERVICES AND SUPPORT Julie: You currently receive services at Vista Pointe. Can you tell us about the support you receive and how it has impacted your daily life? Dick: Yes, having assistance available when I need it has given me tremendous peace of mind. The caregivers are kind, respectful, and attentive. They help me with the things that have become more challenging while encouraging me to remain as independent as possible. Julie: That's something we strive for every day—providing support while honoring each resident's independence and dignity. How has having those services available changed your quality of life?   Dick: It's helped me to focus on daily needs living rather than worrying. I don't have to stress what might happen if I need help. I know support is available, and that security has been wonderful for both me and my family. COMMUNITY LIFE Guy: What are some of your favorite activities or aspects of community life? Dick: I enjoy the social events, exercise classes, and spending time with friends I've made here. There's always something happening, (Happy Hour, Bingo, Board Games and Poker which I had a Royal Flush recently!  Julie: That's one thing people often don't realize—many residents become more socially active after moving into a senior living community. Dick: Right on, we stay very busy I have a much fuller social life now than I did living alone. FAMILY PERSPECTIVE Julie: How has your family responded to your move? Dick: They've been very supportive. In fact, they're relieved knowing I have support available and that I'm surrounded by people who care about me. Our visits are more enjoyable now because they're spending time with me rather than worrying about my well-being. Julie: That is the feedback we hear often from families.       ADVICE TO LISTENERS   Guy: For listeners who may be considering senior living for themselves or a loved one, what advice would you give them? Dick: I wish I had done it sooner! Don't wait until you're forced to decide during a crisis. Explore your options early. Visit communities, ask questions, and talk with residents. I wish I had done it sooner because it's been a very positive change in my life. Julie: That's excellent advice – I hear this from many of our residents CLOSING Guy: Dick, thank you so much for sharing your story today. Your experience helps families better understand what life can look like when the right support and community come together. Dick: Thank you for inviting me. It was my pleasure. Julie: And thank you to our listeners for joining us for this episode of Living Well at Vista Pointe at Green Valley.
