    Episode 4 - An Introduction To Women's Health

    Women’s health Fitness What is it? Exercise that is mindful and purposeful with regards to our pelvic floor muscles Who needs this? Women who have any concerns about their pelvic floor, strength and support. This can look like a lot of different things clinically and in your day to day activities. Leaking urine when we cough, sneeze, or laugh is a big one. But also urgency - needing to rush to the bathroom OR frequency - needing to go to the bathroom many times a day OR Leakage with exercising, lifting, bending or transitioning out of bed or out of a chair. Pelvic floor dysfunction can also present as weakness in its support function. Pelvic organ descent or prolapse is a common diagnosis,  as is Pelvic pain with daily activities and even painful sex.  These are all signs of an unhappy pelvic floor. Most of us are told this is “normal”.  Normal after giving birth, normal as we age, normal with high intensity training.  I would say it’s very common but it’s not normal. It’s not something you have to be ashamed of or just deal with. There are key exercise to help you tune into your pelvic floor. These are exercises beyond the basic Kegel. You would be surprised at how many women are doing these wrong. AND maybe more surprised to hear that Kegels AREN’T for everyone.   More to come on that topic at a later date... Who is it for? Everyone of course needs medical clearance and a specialized screening to identify clinically significant issues. But in general our program will help: Women across the decades can experience Pelvic floor support /dysfunction/painful issues. Ideal for women in any of these groups: Recent post-partum moms, moms who have delivered vaginally and/or via c-section, Women with any leakage issues, Women experiencing Peri-post menopausal changes. Post-surgical - abdominal, gynecological,  colorectal This program we are developing will bridge the gap between pelvic dysfunction and return to full unrestricted fitness training while being mindful of their pelvic Floor to Core F2C needs.
