    BOOK DESCRIPTION
A Softer Kind of Audacity is an unflinching self-examination. Author Jess Whetsel’s poetry debut is “a book is for the little girl with wild curls and a poem in her heart; the teenager who scribbled lyrics in her notebook like her life depended on it; the twenty-something who swallowed her voice and didn’t think she’d ever write again; and the woman who finally came home to her poetry, her voice, herself.” Exploring themes of queerness, mental health, and generational trauma, Whetsel opens the door wide and invites everyone in.
From identity falling in ineffable teenage love to mid-life polyamory, Whetsel does not turn away from the truth.

P.S. I, Vanessa, hate the word "creatives" and I didn't mean to use it so much. Art, artists, writers, people, "creatives" barf, it's a marketing term that doesn't apply to the kind of work we are exploring here. 3

Endings and New Beginnings

Welcome back. Love the calm vibe. Keep it coming.

Demand Poet ,

This is *not* going to be what you expect.

Confessing Animals delivers raw, original insight into what it means to be a creative person living and working in the Western world. There are many mediocre podcast out there -- this is not one of them. Vanessa and Jen, come prepared and, while they relate and connect, they don't Matt-Lauer these interviews. Their guest is the focus. And they don't waste your time like morning show DJs. You feel welcomed into this cozy den of creative inspiration -- and not a single episode is going to deliver what you expect.

Writers on writing

Really interesting conversations with writers and what inspires them to write. The insight into personal lives and relationships as the catalysts for creative practice is really inspiring.
