Mother's Day is right around the corner and I want to take a few weeks to really highlight the impact our mother's can have on our lives. When I first heard about Suzanne's book I absolutely had to meet her and share her story with you on the podcast specifically for Mother's Day! We know how big of an impact our love as     mother's can have on our kids... but when those kids are rebellious... what about then? Does it make a difference?

What does it mean to do things FOR God vs. WITH God? Aren't we supposed to do things for God... you know share the Gospel, obey what he says, etc? Yes you are! But the fulfillment of doing those things comes when you do them WITH God. Leaving him out of the equation is not something that we should be doing as    Christ followers. Today my friend Jen and I discuss this very topic and give you some practical take aways on how you can start doing things WITH God and experiencing the fullness of life God has for you.

Liz Cobo is Bible teacher and writer focused on encouraging Christian women to become biblically literate through daily study of God's Word. Liz is currently writing her first book on the topic of contentment and is a student in the Christian Apologetics Master's Degree program at the Talbott School of Theology at Biola University.

the Bible can feel overwhelming, remember that you learn as  you go along so stay consistent in your time with God Daily Disciplined Devotion to being in God's word is KEY! Being in scripture gets you up close to Jesusthe Bible is focused on God not you.... the Bible is written FOR us not to us or about us - get your mindset in the correct perspective to receive what it says Commentaries & word studies are great ways to go deeper in your scripture readingDevotionals & Bible studies are the dessert of getting into the Word of God - you need to be in the Bible outside of those thingsAsk God to reveal more of himself to you through prayer before you ever open up your Bible to read Resources mentioned:

Today's conversation is such a blessing to each of us who listen with hearts and minds ready to receive. We are talking about God's call for women with Beth Guckenberger! And it's not what you think!!

Beth Guckenberger is the Co- Executive Director of Back2Back Ministries, an international orphan care organization serving orphaned and vulnerable children in ten locations around the world.  She is the author of fourteen books  including her newest book, Warrior of Eden: How Curiosity and Questions Lead to Understanding God’s Call for Women. 

Some of my biggest take aways from the conversation: 
Good teaching leaves you with more questions than answersHebrew word: Ezar - help someone can’t give themselves Being everything that God created us to be should not minimize what God created our spouse to be, it should maximize it! The 4 commands of the great commission were given to both men and women. Don’t feel satisfied with what you know and have at this moment about the Bible, continue to search scripture for more of God and more of who you are because of Him. When your interactions with your spouse become more transactional than relational.(listen at ~19 min. mark!) Key word… intentionality of time! You are released to be exactly how God made you! Make sure you connect with Beth and get her newest book!

What does it look like to love bravely? How can community help us with a brave love? How does compassion go along with all of this? My guest today, Juli, answers these questions and so many more in her latest book, Brave Love.

After nearly two decades of working in a hospice tucked away in the remote Kenyan village of Kipkaren River, Juli Boit has gathered a collection of stories that reveal the essence of her courageous and compassionate journey. Her new book, “Brave Love: A Nurse’s Story of Courage and Compassion in a Kenyan Hospice” is a powerful testament to the transformative power of love and will be released on November 6, 2023. Brave Love invites readers to explore the heart and soul of hospice care in Kenya, offering a beacon of hope in even the most challenging circumstances.
In her book, Juli dives deep into the essence of love in challenging circumstances, something we can all relate to. And Juli will tell you that loving your neighbor can happen anywhere - both in a Kenyan hospice and right down the street.

Here are some of my biggest take-aways from our conversation! 
Keep track of the faithfulness of God by journaling or writing it down so you can look back later and be reminded of his faithfulness Being brave is more than not being afraid, its about trusting that if God is leading us somewhere we can know it’s for our best and his glory We can show up for others in knowing we aren’t alone, but God is with us and brings along community to walk with us When we separate ourselves from the possibility of pain we are also separating ourselves from the possibility of joyNow, Here, This - even though we’d rather be in a different situation how can we look at where we are now and know that God is here with us in this moment Ask Yourself.... What does it look like to love in this situation? Allow God to interrupt your plans, you’ll be so glad you did! We never arrive in a place in our Christian walk where we won’t need to actively trust God any longer, we need to continually choose to trust the Lord no matter what Connect with Juli and Get the book: https://juliboit.com/

Easter is almost here!! I hope you are as excited as I am!! What the cross means to us as     Christians won't make a lot of sense to the world and that's okay. We can live in and experience the resurrection power of Jesus Christ every day of our lives whether other's understand it or not!
