valli maine: on channeling voice, sound healing, sobriety, and staying true to self.

This episode is a really honest, expansive conversation with musician and sound healer Valli Maine. She shares what it was like growing up in the bush and how, from as young as two, songs and sounds have always come through her. For a long time she kept that part of herself hidden, only slowly beginning to share it in intimate one-on-one spaces, and then eventually stepping into group work around 2020–2022 following the release of her album Lucent. We talk about what it really looks like to build a life around what you love  not in a polished, perfect way, but in a very real, human way. Valli opens up her sobriety journey since 2013, and the layers of childhood healing she’s moved through along the way. She also shares the harder chapters navigating major health challenges that left her bed-bound for years. There’s a beautiful conversation around how she works with sound and explore the duality of sound and frequency how it can be used for deep healing and harmony, but also the conversations and beliefs around it being used in ways that may not serve. This conversation is so beautifully grounded and open about intuition, resilience, and what it really takes to honour your gifts. joel brown: the story of change & redemption. breaking the cycle of masculinity, vulnerability and healing.

From crime, ice and addiction… to doing the work and choosing to stay clean. In this episode of Connected Convos, Sherri Ponisi sit's down with Joel Brown (Joely B), founder of Dusk to Dawn Support Service, for a raw, no BS conversation about what recovery actually looks like. Together they talk about bullying, violence, growing up around addiction… and how stepping into the “protector” role can slowly pull men into a path of destruction without even realising it. Joel shares what it really took for him to get clean not just from drugs, but alcohol, gambling, and crime and what it takes to stay there. Daily discipline, stacking wins, choosing a different life over and over again. They talk about how “support” can easily turn into enabling, the gaps no one speaks about after prison, the silent pressure men are carrying, and how one man speaking up can actually change everything. It’s real, it’s uncomfortable, but it’s needed. If you’ve ever struggled… or loved someone who has, this one will land. Dusk To Dawn is a community-driven support network helping people overcome addiction, mental health challenges, and life struggles through mentorship, connection, and real-world support - no judgment, just honest help. @dusk2dawnsupport @joely__bee Follow along on all podcast platforms and on instagram @connectedbeingco @sherri_ponisi  You can also follow @nonamestudiosbreathwork for updates on events and classes. marc lyster : breath, purpose and building no name studios

In the first episode of Connected Convos, Sherri Ponisi opens the door to what this podcast is all about honest, vulnerable conversations that go beneath the surface. She’s joined by Marc Lyster, founder of No Name Studios and someone who played a significant role in her own breathwork journey. Marc shares how breathwork became a lifeline for him during years of mental health struggles, eventually leading him to travel and run workshops before creating a studio dedicated to making breathwork a normal part of everyday life. Together they talk about the reality of holding space for others the deep purpose and connection that comes with it, but also the challenges of running a passion driven business while juggling full time work. They unpack the pressure of constantly creating content online, the importance of safety in an unregulated industry, and the responsibility that comes with facilitating this work. Marc also shares the deeply personal story of a 7 year adoption journey and what it’s been like stepping into fatherhood. It’s a conversation about breathwork, purpose, resilience, and where this work is heading from deeper release style sessions to simple daily practices that help people regulate, connect, and come home to themselves. If you’re curious about breathwork and want to experience it for yourself, you can visit No Name Studios Breathwork in Brunswick, Melbourne. Where you’ll find daily classes as well as information on upcoming workshops and events.
