    How is your mental health? We have all fallen short of our own expectations, or the expectations of others. This internal struggle is something that unites us as human beings. Yet why do we feel the need to pretend? My next guest Sheila Stauffer, is a mental health advocate and the Executive Director at Cornerstone Counselling, She’s here today to help break the chain of stigmata and negative thought patterns that hold us back. If you need help or are able to help break the chain of stigma, I pray that you make today, be the day that you take that first step.  It can be scary to do so, and I also know that God has your back!     Sally King - In Search of Serenity - Contagious Courage with Vahen King

    Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it. But what happens when all a child has known is abuse and trauma? Today my guest is a parent, who was once that child. Raised in foster care, and suffered great trauma, yet despite her own upbringing, her life is the evidence, that you can overcome a traumatic past and create an amazing new future. Sally J. King is an amazing woman, mother, and wife. She is an adult adoptee from the foster system and has a passion for foster and adoptive kids. Her goal is to change the trajectory of foster kids lives by raising awareness. Sally states, “Foster and adoptive parents are not provided with the right tools to truly facilitate change and resilience in these kids.” Being being a foster kid herself and knowing her own struggles, Sally has left no stone unturned in order to help her adopted foster child “Serenity” truly thrive. And in the process, was able to heal herself and understand that your start in life does not define your future. Two important lessons  sally has discovered in her journey to healing is this; “Lead with love” & “Forgiveness is giving up the hope of a better past.” – Sally J. King
