Content First

Content creators need to guide their target audience and to do this you need to let them feel that you understand their choices, that the value of your engagement is in the lasting relationship you are establishing and not just a one-off purchase that most companies do to their customers. It takes a bold move to shift from traditional marketing to customer-focused strategies. Traditional marketing may give you page views, shares, and likes but if your customers are not able to share with their circle the value of your brand, you are missing a great deal of opportunities to grow and reach the bigger markets.

Why Virtual Reality Will Change How We Consume & Design Content

I have read from an article in marketingmag.com.au that Facebook’s VP of engineering, Cory Ondrejka is in the works with Oculus Rift to bring virtual reality to a billion people. Now, let’s pause for a while there. A couple of days ago I was trying the Samsung Gear VR, and I was like a kid enjoying a new toy that Santa just dropped five months ahead of Christmas. And I have to tell you; I’m no Samsung fan but the technology embedded on that piece of gear made me experience content in a whole new way. And what happened next was a completely odd realization that I might need to shift my focus soon if not now to creating content that can be experienced in this platform. Yes I am a storyteller, and I might have some level of competence in this area but after experiencing the Oculus technology, I am just amazed at the possibilities that are endless if I am to tell a story in a virtual reality space. Content production for marketing has evolved throughout the years, and the content that was able to provide the most unique experience to the user ends up being the most consumed content. I know how human beings are capable of making a dent in the universe, and probably as I speak, a more advanced technology is being designed - one that would surpass virtual reality. But just the idea of being able to design and consume content that makes the user almost feel and be at the center of that content? That is huge. And I am seeing more storytellers and marketers getting their hands busy on VR, and already in our community here in Singapore, there is already a lot of talk out on the streets on how the real estate business can benefit from virtual reality. And I agree. Imagine having a potential client walk through a property in virtual space? That is a lot better than looking at static images, even videos. So where does this place us marketers? I guess it would be a big challenge but a very fruitful one to those who will be brave enough to start designing content for this platform. Are you up for the shift? Will you be keen to experience content in virtual reality?     Subscribe to our blog!  |
