Winding Roads: The Music, The Pain, The Becoming with Jack Hickey

On today’s episode, we are thrilled to be joined by Jake Hickey. Jake was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and spent most of his 20s just trying to figure out his life, who he was, and what he wanted to do. He finally hit a point where he wanted to challenge himself mentally and spiritually and started pursuing music as a hobby. And what started as a hobby quickly became so much more. Music became an outlet for him to write about the things he was going through. It became a space for healing, an accelerator of growth, and ultimately a dream he is chasing. And currently, Jake is also working on getting his masters degree to be a mental health therapist as his passion for helping others on their path to their best selves runs deep. Tune in to hear: Jake opens up about his childhood including losing his mom when he was just 1 year old due to a genetic heart condition which he also has, ultimately shaping the rest of his life Jake takes us through his early 20s trying to figure out what he wanted to do and the events that led him to leave physical therapy school and completely pivot to follow a new path that felt true to him Jake vulnerably shares about mental health and why he started going to therapy which has been transformational for his life and career path Jake describes a tough period of his life which was the catalyst for him to start writing and playing music which continues to heal, challenge, and expand him in ways beyond what he could have imagined  Jake talks about his relationship to suffering and the power of sitting in discomfort which has ultimately expanded his capacity to love Go follow Jake and check out his new album: @jake_hickey https://open.spotify.com/album/2rVnUisg20ch8lhCm46lP3?si=2-CCtYH7SY2qyYfy3CW9lQ&utm_source=copy-link We hope you enjoy this conversation and share it with a friend.
