Rewiring Your Brain for Emotional Wellness: A Journey to Overcoming Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma

In this episode of the Cope and Chill Podcast, Dr. Karen Cureton discusses the fascinating process of rewiring the brain to alleviate chronic anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, chronic illness, and chronic pain. Discover how the limbic system, responsible for our emotional responses, plays a pivotal role in determining our sense of safety and how it impacts every organ system in the body.

Dr. Cureton explains how even seemingly minor traumatic experiences, known as "little T" traumas, can lead to lasting changes in our nervous system and behavior patterns. She offers insights into the daily practice and guided neural retraining processes that can gradually transform these patterns, providing relief and a path to wellness.

What is Mental Fitness and How Can You Become More Mentally Fit?

What is Mental Fitness and How Can You Become More Mentally Fit?

What does it mean to be mentally fit?  Is it like being physically fit in that we are strong, resilient and built for endurance?  The answer is yes, and so much more.  Mental fitness is used to describe our sense of well-being and is described in terms of how we think, feel and act.  So, how do we become more mentally fit?  This week, I talk with mental fitness coach, Frida Soerensen, who shares with us the building blocks of mental fitness and positive intelligence and describes how they work and, more importantly, how we can use them to help us have a greater sense of well-being and resilience.  Frida describes some powerful concepts and tools that can help each of us live happier lives and expand beyond our perceived limitations.  Join us on August 8, 2023 for episode 16 of the Cope and Chill podcast with Frida Soerensen.  See you soon!

(Part 2) Healing trauma with internal family systems, hypnotherapy and somatic experiencing

(Part 2) Healing trauma with internal family systems, hypnotherapy and somatic experiencing

Do you struggle with trauma?  How have you tried to heal?  Has it worked?  This week, on The Cope and Chill Podcast, we will talk about three alternative approaches to healing trauma.  As you may know from your own experience, or from someone you know, not every approach works for everyone.  Sometimes, an alternative approach is the best way to go for some people.  In this episode, my guest, Embodiment Coach and Hypnotherapist, Stacia Aashna, talks how about she helps her clients work through and heal their traumas through something called “Internal Family Systems” or IFS, hypnotherapy (hypnosis) and somatic experiencing.  If you’re unfamiliar with any or all of these approaches and how they can be used to heal trauma, then join us for episodes 14 and 15 of the Cope and Chill Podcast!  We’ll talk about what each of these approaches are, how they work and what you can expect from engaging with each experience.  Note:  this was such a great conversation that I had to break it into two parts.  Part two is out July 31, 2023 wherever you listen to podcasts and on Youtube at copeandchill.  See you then!

S1 E13

Just caught this episode. Very interesting takes on the subject. Some of her methods would definitely require some practice for me. When you drew comparisons to Buddhism, it took me back to the summer we took that course together, I think it was called Comparative Religions actually!

Insightful First Episode

I thought this was a very good topic and it was quite insightful to say the least. I look forward to hearing more from the Cope and Chill Podcast in the future. Thanks for sharing
