Corner Table Talk
After years of lowering the velvet rope and pulling out chairs on both coasts for countless guests, Brad Johnson puts his warm, present and welcoming hospitality skills to use as the host of Corner Table Talk, covering topics spanning FOOD + DRINK + CULTURE. Following the guest conversation, international speaker, writer, and diplomat Ambassador Shabazz (eldest daughter of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz) spends a few moments unpacking the discussion and lets us in on some of the interesting people, places, and things that have her attention in HOW WE MOVE. Brad Johnson’s career in hospitality began in the early 70s in the dish pit of his father’s renowned NYC restaurant, The Cellar, followed by his subsequent storied road creating high profile establishments, from the lavish LA nightclub The Roxbury (yes, that Roxbury) to the Melrose Avenue soulful hotspot, Georgia, and the James Beard Award-nominated Post & Beam. I discovered Corner Table talk when it was added to my Audible App a few months ago. I love listening because I always learn something from Brad and his guests. I have to keep a pen and pad handy to write down the recommended restaurants, teas, events, and recipes. Ambassador Shabazz recommended Harisa which is a dish with chick peas, lentils, and chicken. I’ll be making that soon. I’ve probably listened to ten or more of the podcasts now. I like Brad’s interviewing style because he really listens to his guests and we, the podcast listeners get to benefit from his curiosity. I highly recommend this podcast. Thank you Brad and to your wife Linda for Corner Table Talk. Karen

I had the pleasure of meeting Brad in Los Angeles in the 90’s at his restaurant, dance and jazz club, Roxbury on Sunset Boulevard. After Roxbury, he started Georgia’s and whenever I walked into either space, my body chemistry improved and the food was consistently great. He was, and is, warm, present and welcoming. His presence naturally translates through in this podcast and as a listener I am comforted and stimulated by his content. The segment with Ambassador Shabazz and “How We Move, “ adds another rich and nourishing layer to the Corner Table Talk experience. This podcast always leaves me curious about something new I learned, and in anticipation of the next episode. Thank you for creating this!!!!
So worth tuning into! Don’t miss an episode!

Just wanted to leave a few words about how much I’m enjoying Corner Table Talk! Fascinating guests and I’m so impressed with the host, Brad Johnson. The conversations with the guests are extremely interesting and thoughtful and they open up to Brad so comfortably! He’s such a natural and talented interviewer! So well-prepared and his questions really do reveal a new perspective on the guests- even the ones I thought I was familiar with. I’m having such fun listening! I know this podcast’s audience will blow up if it hasn’t already! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Congrats!
Jackie Jackson: Quiet Strength

I think this was the fifth episode of Corner Table Talk with Brad Johnson, that I’ve listened to so far, and though they’ve all been riveting and informative, this one was my absolute favorite thus far, because it was so personal and revealing , that I felt like a fly on the wall, ease dropping on a private conversation between two good friends!... One of whom I actually know personally from the late 1970’s and early 80’s at The Cellar Restaurant in NYC, where we’re originally from, and the other who I grew up on musically, and whose music I loved as a pre-teen and teenager, that marked my childhood friendships and experiences forever..in the most positive way.. So I felt very connected to, and could recall, and closely identify with the times and events they were discussing throughout the interview! This is a high quality podcast show!..Brad has a unique, relaxed style of interviewing his guests, by asking atypical questions that the listeners really want to know about, that bring out the best in his guests, who easily open up and share honestly... Also, his timing is great, by allowing the guests to speak freely, sometimes for minutes at a time on a particular topic, but knows exactly when to interject a comment or opinion to Segway into the next question... It’s like observing a lovely dance being performed.. I actually got teary-eyed when Jackie Jackson suddenly got choked up when he talked about the Black children in Europe being so happy and so grateful that the Jackson Five came over there to perform, that they said they finally had someone to identify with, to look up to and aspire to...A poignant moment, for sure!.. And if that wasn’t enough, after that lovely interview, and all the others, I hear a very familiar voice coming from a woman called Ambassador Shabazz..As I listened further, she made reference to being from Mt. Vernon, NY, and who her parents were, then I knew I was listening to my old high school friend , Attallah Shabazz!..who I used to know quite well from our days at the United Nations International School, better known as UNIS...She and her sister Quibillah, (a FB friend) were both students there, 1 and 2 years behind me... I was so thrilled to hear what she’s been doing, and that two old friends of mine are on a podcast together!.. Wow... talk about Synchronicity, and coming full circle!! Brad, you’re doing an awesome job!... continued success, and please tell Attallah I said a big Hello and hope to make contact with her soon...I will continue to tune in to your show.. Bye for now... Best Regards...Deborah Blount
