    19. EVERYONE HAS STUFF; DIG DEEPER | ANNA LOVOTTI, PT, DPT, NCS

    19. EVERYONE HAS STUFF; DIG DEEPER | ANNA LOVOTTI, PT, DPT, NCS

Today I sat down with healthcare worker and activist Anna Lovotti. Anna is a physical therapist who recently moved to California to put her newest niche as a Neurology Certified Specialist to good use. She like many, was jolted into action regarding anti-racist education as a white ally following the death of George Floyd. Today we talk about what the process has been like, the bumps along the way and what is left to be learned. Antiracism is not a checklist or a class where you complete a few assignments. I also want to note that we talked about 1 instance in which I experienced racism at my alma mater. The individual who committed this act is no longer with the institution, and I do want to say that sitting down with her to talk about about it and naming the wrongs did provide for some therapeutic healing

    Topics of discussion
    - The Journey to becoming anti-racist
    - What we have learned about ourselves and the system
    - Having tough conversation as a clinician

Leave the light on

One of the things that makes Christie a great hostess is her curiosity as evident in her follow up questions & how she really guides her guest into digging deeper into their stories. Favorite quotes: “Make time for the things that you love to do” & “An artist has many mediums” Now I’m about to go walk outside barefoot. (Listen in full to understand this in context)

Let’s chat

The host, Christie Idiong, MS, has developed a true powerhouse of a podcast. Christie invites multiple perspectives and investigates topics that as a society we are aware of, but more importantly ones that we may not be familiar with. Christie explores ‘the who/what/why?’ as well as the ‘how can we take tangible steps to fix this?’ with hardcore evidence available in each episode. It is always thought provoking and giving the audience various moments to self-reflect on and implement change into their everyday life. Expand your thoughts/ideas/beliefs and listen to this podcast, you will not be sorry.

A Must Listen!

I am always on the hunt for a new podcast. Just two episodes in and I am hooked! Great discussion on important topics. I appreciate the fact checking that is done for the episode and it was exciting to get some new take aways in the process. Working in the behavioral health field, in care management, It was refreshing to hear the recognition of the importance of financial health and the impact it can have. This is a must listen, and I know it will be my new go to on the way to work! Brilliant.
