    On today's episode, Corporate-ish has a conversation with Khamaree Karim.  We'll talk about leaving Corporate America and how he started his own business.  He'll also answer some tax questions.  Disclaimer: Everybody's tax situation is different.  Please consult a tax professional about your own personal tax situation. Khamaree Karim graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He received his MBA in 2014 from Lindenwood University of St. Charles, MO.   While earning his MBA, he worked at Bank of America in Illinois as a Branch Manager. Khamaree Karim established his first entrepreneurial endeavor, KDK Tax Services, from 2016-2019. As a licensed certified tax preparer, he gained experience in providing his clients with the highest quality of service by embracing the core values of integrity, maintaining compliance with IRS rules and exceptional customer service. Whether his clients had a relatively simple or complex tax situation he was always able to identify legitimate resolutions. KDK Tax Services proved to be a successful undertaking. As individual clients, families and businesses strengthened his growth potential in the industry, he decided to dedicate himself to his company full time. Late 2019, the company’s name was changed to Upscale Accounting Solutions, LLC.  Upscale Acct. Solutions, LLC is licensed to do more than just tax preparation and consulting.  The business is equipped to perform bookkeeping, payroll and other related business consultations/services. Khamaree Karim, MBA is family orientated with a beautiful wife and three children. He enjoys being active outdoors and family game nights. As a family man, he highly respects the desires of his clients to take care of their families as well.  He values the importance of financial stability for his clients and will work to ensure your family and or business has the tools it needs to succeed.     On today's episode, we talk to Paris Woods about how she paid off $100K in debt in a little over three years, some creative ways she was able to reduce her expenses and earn additional income through Airbnb, and her ongoing journey to becoming financially independent and retire early. Paris Woods is a first-generation college graduate of Harvard University and a lifelong educator, having worked at some of the country’s top institutions. The daughter of a wise mother who encouraged her to venture out into the world and make “new mistakes,” Paris learned the hard way how to manage her finances and achieve financial freedom. Through years of trial and error and the guidance of numerous FIRE (financial independence, retire early) experts, Paris landed on some simple principles that completely turned things around for her financially and in life. Paris's debut book, The Black Girl’s Guide to Financial Freedom, teaches readers how to win financially while living a life they love. Writing with the heart of a teacher, Paris breaks down seemingly complex financial topics into simple and actionable advice anyone can follow. Paris has enjoyed numerous opportunities to help families with their personal finances, including through her work as a college financial aid officer and as an IRS-certified tax preparer. Paris earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and her master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
