Can You Be Too Generous? CPXL S2E10

CPXL Season 2 • Episode 10 | Can You be too Generous? CPXL, or CrossPoint Extra Large, is your midweek companion to the weekend message from CrossPoint. Each episode takes a deeper dive into the Sunday sermon—exploring the text further, unpacking broader themes, and offering practical ways to live out God’s Word. Designed to equip and encourage Everyday Missionaries, CPXL helps you Love God, Grow Up, Serve All, and Live Sent. This week on CPXL, Pastors Andy Addis and Eric Franklin explore the heart behind intentional generosity and what Scripture teaches about giving. Looking at 2 Corinthians 9:6–8, they discuss how generosity reflects trust in God and how the posture of our hearts matters just as much as the gift itself. Drawing from the powerful moment in Exodus 36, when Moses had to restrain the people because they gave more than enough for the work of the Lord, they reflect on what it looks like for God’s people to give freely and joyfully. Together, they unpack how generosity fuels the work of God and how living open-handed can shape our faith, priorities, and participation in God’s mission. This week on CPXL, Pastors Andy Addis and Eric Franklin explore the heart behind “Give us this day our daily bread” and what it reveals about contentment. Looking at 1 Timothy 6:10, they discuss how the love of money and the pursuit of more can quietly turn into idols that pull our hearts away from trusting God. Drawing connections to the story of manna in the wilderness, they reflect on how God teaches His people to depend on Him daily rather than chasing material security. Together, they unpack how gratitude, trust, and contentment protect us from entitlement and help us live faithfully with what God provides. ____________________________________________ CrossPoint is one church in many places, seeking to reach our communities with the true hope and freedom found in Christ. What Jesus Says about Greed and True Wealth | CPXL S2E8

CPXL Season 2 • Episode 8: What Jesus Says about Greed and True Wealth CPXL, or CrossPoint Extra Large, is your midweek companion to the weekend message from CrossPoint. This week on CPXL, Pastors Andy Addis and Eric Franklin lean into the heart of generosity following Vision Weekend, exploring what Jesus teaches about money, security, and the condition of our hearts. Centered on Luke 12:13–21 and the warning against living foolishly, they unpack the parable of the rich fool and Jesus’ encounter with the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:21–22. Together, these passages reveal how easy it is to build bigger barns while neglecting eternal treasure. We explore the subtle pull of accumulation, the danger of mistaking blessing for ownership, and how generosity becomes a safeguard against self-reliance. What does it mean to be rich toward God? How do we ensure our lives are marked not by what we store up, but by what we surrender? In the end, this conversation reminds us that generosity is not primarily about dollars—it’s about devotion. And the way we steward what we’ve been given reveals where we truly believe our security lies. The Account of Ishmael’s Line - Genesis 25:12–18

CPXL Season 2 • Episode 4 Genesis 25:12–18 – The Account of Ishmael’s Line As the book of Genesis continues to narrow from nations to one family, Scripture pauses to record the generations of Ishmael—Abraham’s son who was not part of the covenant line, yet still deeply seen and blessed by God. In this episode of CPXL, we explore Genesis 25:12–18 and what Ishmael’s genealogy reveals about God’s faithfulness to His promises. Though Isaac carries the covenant forward, God does not forget Ishmael. His line grows into twelve princes and a great nation, fulfilling the words God spoke years earlier to Hagar and Abraham. This conversation helps us distinguish between blessing and covenant, showing that while God’s purposes are specific, His mercy is wide. Ishmael’s story reminds us that God keeps His word—even when human decisions complicate the story—and that His compassion extends beyond the boundaries we often assume. In This Episode: Why Scripture records Ishmael’s genealogy How God fulfills His promises outside the covenant line The difference between blessing and covenant What Ishmael’s story teaches us about God’s character How this passage shapes the way we view those who feel “outside” the promise Key Scriptures: Genesis 25:12–18 Genesis 16 Genesis 17:18–20 Genesis 21:13 Psalm 145:9 As we reflect on God’s faithfulness to Ishmael, we’re invited to trust God’s promises more deeply—and to see others with greater compassion as we continue into the story of Isaac’s sons. The Abrahamic Covenant — God’s Promise, God’s People, God’s Plan

CPXL Season 2 • Episode 3: The Abrahamic Covenant — God’s Promise, God’s People, God’s Plan | Genesis 12, 15, 17 After the scattering at Babel, God begins something new through one man and one family. In this episode of CPXL, we explore the Abrahamic Covenant—God’s foundational promise that sets the trajectory for the entire biblical story. Walking through Genesis 12, 15, and 17, we see that God’s covenant is entirely His initiative—grounded in faith, not performance. From Abram’s call to trust without seeing the full picture, to God alone cutting the covenant, this conversation reveals God’s heart to restore, bless, and redeem the nations. The episode also points forward to Jesus, the promised descendant through whom the blessing to all nations is fulfilled—showing how faith, not lineage, defines God’s people. In This Episode: God’s call to Abram and the meaning of covenant Why faith is central to God’s promises How the covenant expands in Genesis 15 and 17 How Abraham’s story points forward to Jesus What it means to live as people of the covenant today Key Scriptures: Genesis 12:1–3 Genesis 15 Genesis 17 Galatians 3 Romans 4 As Genesis narrows from nations to one family, we’re invited to see ourselves within God’s unfolding covenant story—and to consider where He may be calling us to trust Him without seeing the full picture. Genesis 10:1–11:26 | Nations, Babel, and God’s Direction

Genesis 10:1–11:26 | Nations, Babel, and God’s Direction In this episode of CPXL, Andy Addis and Eric Franklin are joined by Ryan Booth for the first three-pastor conversation of Season 2 as they walk through Genesis 10–11—the account of Noah’s sons, the spread of nations, and the Tower of Babel. Genesis 10 shows how humanity repopulates the earth after the flood, forming diverse nations and families. Genesis 11 reveals how pride and misplaced unity fracture that diversity at Babel. Together, these chapters remind us that while humanity multiplies, moves, and sometimes rebels, God remains sovereignly at work—directing history toward His redemptive purposes. The conversation explores why the “Table of Nations” matters, what Babel teaches us about pride and unity, and how God’s scattering is not only judgment, but also loving direction. The episode closes by pointing forward to the genealogy of Shem and the emergence of Abram—evidence that God’s plan continues even through a fractured world. In This Episode: Why Genesis 10 matters more than we think Unity, diversity, and God’s design for the nations The heart issue behind the Tower of Babel How God redirects humanity without abandoning His promise The hopeful line leading toward Abram Key Scriptures: Genesis 10:1–32 Genesis 11:1–26 Genesis 1:28 Deuteronomy 32:8 Acts 17:26–27 Hebrews 11:8–12 As Genesis shifts from nations to one family, we’re invited to see how God works through history—and through ours.
