    This week in our public square we sit down with Dr. Matthew Levitt and David Daoud to discuss Hezbollah. 

     

    Dr. Matthew Levitt is the Fromer-Wexler Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, where he directs the Institute's Reinhard Program on Counterterrorism and Intelligence. Levitt is the author of 'Hezbollah: The Global Footprint of Lebanon’s Party of God.' He is also the creator of the Lebanese Hezbollah Select Worldwide Activity interactive map, as well as the excellent podcast series Breaking Hezbollah’s Golden Rule.

     

    David Daoud is the co-founder of and Lebanon and Hezbollah analyst at Resistance Axis Monitor as well as a research analyst on Hezbollah and Lebanon at United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI).

    This week we welcome Professor Eugene Kontorovich into our public square to discuss Israel and international law. 

     

    Eugene is a professor at George Mason’s Antonin Scalia School of Law, and the director of its Center for International Law in the Middle East. Before coming to George Mason, he had been a professor at Northwestern University School of Law for 11 years. 

     

    An expert in international and constitutional law, he has published over thirty academic articles in the leading law reviews and peer-reviewed journals. His scholarship has been cited in leading international law cases in the U.S. and abroad. 

     

    Eugene is also the head of the International Law Department at the Kohelet Policy Forum, a Jerusalem-based think tank, and is recognized as one of the world’s preeminent experts on international law and the Israel-Arab conflict.

    This week we welcome Matti Friedman into our public square to discuss anti-Israel bias in the international media and also touch on his new book about Leonard Cohen, 'Who By Fire: Leonard Cohen in the Sinai,' who performed for the Israeli troops on the front lines in the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

     

    Matti is a former Associated Press correspondent whose work as a reporter has taken him from Israel to Lebanon, Morocco, Moscow, the Caucasus, and Washington, DC. He has been a regular essayist for the New York Times opinion section, and his writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Tablet Magazine, and elsewhere. He has also written a number of books including 'Spies of No Country,' the story of Israel’s first intelligence agents in 1948.

    In conversation with CCFP Director Ari Ingel this week is Hillel Neuer, who is the Executive Director of UN Watch, a human rights NGO in Geneva, Switzerland.

     

    Hillel is the leading Jewish advocate speaking out against the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish bias at the United Nations. 

     

    Since 2009, he has has headed a coalition of 25 human rights groups as chair of the annual Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy, a renowned international gathering that provides a global platform to courageous pro-democracy dissidents from around the world who put their lives on the line to demand fundamental freedoms in oppressive regimes.
