    Evanna Lynch - Portraying Luna in "Harry Potter", "Pool (No Water)" & Forming Connection Through Art

    Joining Daniel on today’s episode of "Creatively Me" is Irish actress, writer and activist, Evanna Lynch. Evanna’s career began when at fourteen years old she landed the role of Luna Lovegood in the "Harry Potter" film franchise. Beloved by millions of fans around the world for her charming portrayal of the quirky Ravenclaw student, Evanna starred in the final four films of the series. Beyond the walls of Hogwarts School, Evanna’s artistry has continued to grow in compelling and often unexpected ways.  In 2021, Evanna released a memoir "The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting: The Tragedy and Glory of Growing Up", where she details personal struggles and her artistic explorations. She’s also a respected activist, particularly on the subject of animal rights. She’s continued to flex her acting muscles in film, both features and shorts, as well as theatre, where she’s undertaken roles in acclaimed productions such as "Disco Pigs" and most recently "Pool (No Water)". During "Pool (No Water)"’s run, a play performed in an empty swimming pool in the Metropole Hotel, through the Everyman Theatre as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, I got the chance to meet with Evanna in person, a conversation I was eagerly anticipating. During today’s conversation, Evanna will reflect on her creative journey to date, from Harry Potter to theatre endeavours. She’ll share her own observations on her relationship with her work and well-being and will discuss the complex subject matters that draw her in as an artist and a performer. Maureen’s singular career in casting spans both film and theatre, and she’s been behind casting decisions for plenty of beloved properties, from Irish and international.     This Friday's episode sees Daniel get the wonderful opportunity to speak to photographer and filmmaker Sam Jones. Across a plethora of different mediums throughout a varied career, Sam has poured creativity and passion into every project to create long lasting impacts. From 2013-2020 Sam hosted the documentary series "Off Camera", where he conducted conversations with stars that include Daniel Radcliffe, Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. As a director for advertisements, he recently directed a series of commercials for "OnePlus" featuring Robert Downey Jr, as well as music videos for artists like the Foo Fighters. Perhaps notable is his work as a photographer. Sam’s portraits of stars like Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Bob Dylan and Jack Nicholson to name only a few have appeared on the covers on renowned publications from Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Esquire, GQ, Time, Entertainment Weekly and Men’s Journal.  On today’s episode, Sam will be sharing incredible anecdotes from his career, such as photographing the legendary Heath Ledger during the promotion of "Brokeback Mountain".     This episode sees Daniel welcome to "Creatively Me" three-time Oscar nominated make-up artist Naomi Donne. Naomi’s one of a kind approach to make-up in cinema combines academic training with deep research and storytelling, to forget looks that are at once subtle and unforgettable. Starting out by working at the BBC, Naomi soon began to lend her talents to some of the most beloved films of recent times, from working alongside Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig on the "James Bond" franchise, to her regular collaborations with Emma Thompson on films like “Matilda: The Musical” and “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande”. The Academy have recognised her singular work three times, for the 2017 war-film "1917", the 2021 Disney film "Cruella" and the 2022 comic-book crime epic "The Batman".
