Fix the Root Cause - The Mistake Most octors Make

Hi, Or guest to day is Dr. Amelia Scott Barrett, MD — a Stanford-trained neurologist, founder of Migraine Relief Code, and a lifelong advocate for true, root-cause healing. During her years in private practice treating headaches and migraines, patients kept asking a question that mainstream medicine couldn’t fully answer: “Why am I having these headaches in the first place?” Dr Barrett was taught to talk about genetics and environment, then prescribe medication. But that explanation never felt complete. Over time, that discomfort became impossible to ignore. Today, advances in neuroscience and functional medicine give us a much clearer picture. She now understands that migraines often occur because brain cells are under-powered—starved of key nutrients, overwhelmed by inflammation, or blocked by toxins that disrupt healthy function. When you identify and address those root causes, migraines can dramatically improve—and so can mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being. That’s why she created Migraine Relief Code. Through my online programs, she teaches women how to support their brains at the cellular level—how to nourish it, calm it, and help it thrive. Dr Barrett studied neuroscience at Smith College, earned my medical degree from the University of Colorado, and completed my neurology residency at Stanford University. For 20 years, and ran a successful private practice in Denver, caring for thousands of patients. From Beloved Dog to Global Citizen

In this heartfelt episode of Creativity with Purpose, we welcome journalist, award-winning writer, and passionate storyteller Carol Patton. Carol’s labor of love, The Adventures of Mo, is more than a children’s book series—it’s a bridge between storytelling, global awareness, and compassion. Inspired by her beloved family dog, Mozart, an American Eskimo with a big personality (and an even bigger love of ice cream 🍦), the series invites readers to explore geography, history, and cultures around the world through the curious paws of Mo. Written as a tribute after Mozart’s passing, The Adventures of Mo reflects Carol’s deep belief that stories can shape kinder, more conscious global citizens—especially when they begin in childhood. In this conversation, we explore: How The Adventures of Mo was born from love and loss Why geography, history, and animals are powerful teaching tools How storytelling helps children (and adults) become engaged global citizens Turning a passion project into a meaningful creative legacy Whether you’re a writer, educator, parent, or someone who believes creativity can change the world, this episode will leave you inspired—and smiling. ✨ Listen, reflect, and rediscover how purpose finds its way into our most personal stories. 🔔 Subscribe for more conversations where creativity meets meaning 💬 Leave a comment: What stories shaped your worldview as a child? Built On Purpose

Todd J. Griffee grew up in Niles, Michigan, in the shadow of Notre Dame’s Golden Dome. Inspired at age ten to pursue a life of service, he combined his love of history, military tradition, and Notre Dame athletics into a focused plan that led him to become a two-time All-American fencer and Army ROTC graduate. Todd went on to serve as an Army Reserve officer, Indiana State Trooper, St. Joseph County Deputy, and later as a Federal Police Officer. His dedication eventually guided him into federal investigative work as a Navy CID Investigator and ultimately an NCIS Investigator. A husband, father, and grandfather, Todd credits his wife, Bonnie Jo—an educator of over 23 years—for encouraging him to share his story to inspire young people and adults seeking purpose. Their conversations led to his book, TOUCHÉ: A Notre Dame All-American Fencer’s Spiritual Guide to Success, which reflects the spiritual lessons and “miracles” he experienced throughout his journey. Todd enjoys travel, fitness, music, and rallying his Porsche, and is preparing to share his message through speaking engagements for schools, agencies, teams, and organizations.
