When we sin, we are tempted to deny, minimize, blame, or cover ourselves, but true repentance runs to God’s abundant mercy, tells the truth about sin, asks God for cleansing and renewal, and returns to worship and faithful obedience. Ultimately, Psalm 51 points us to Jesus, the true and better Son of David, whose body was broken and whose blood was poured out so repentant sinners can be forgiven, cleansed, and restored.
