    Episode 2- Social Media Ban

    In this bonus episode of Croft Talk, we unpack one of the biggest talking points at the time of recording (November 2025) , the proposed social media ban for young people under the age of 16. The topic has sparked strong interest and curiosity among our students, while also prompting important conversations for parents and schools as we navigate this new chapter together. This episode features an excerpt from a longer recording made for BBC Radio 4’s Today program in the UK, giving voice to a Woodcroft College Year 8 perspective on the issue. It also captures a valuable “before” perspective, one that we can continue to revisit, reflect on, and unpack in future episodes as this conversation evolves.

    Episode 1- On Country, In Heart: Woodcroft’s Cape York Experience

    In the very first episode of Croft Talk, our student hosts take listeners deep into the heart of Cape York, sharing their first-hand experiences from Woodcroft College’s inaugural cultural immersion trip. As part of the College’s ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan, this remarkable journey offered students a rare opportunity to learn directly from Australia’s First Nation communities, on their Country, through their stories, traditions, and daily life. Students reflect on the powerful moments that shaped their understanding of Australia’s oldest living culture: walking sacred Country with Traditional Owners, participating in community-led cultural workshops, learning about connection to land and kinship systems, and listening to stories that stretch back thousands of years. They also discuss how the immersion challenged assumptions, deepened empathy, and inspired a stronger personal commitment to reconciliation.
