    When the Spirit Moves - “The Church Comes Alive”

    We continue our series When the Spirit Moves with the message: “The Church Comes Alive.” In Acts 2, everything changes. The disciples are gathered – waiting, praying, uncertain and then suddenly, the Spirit comes. And the church comes alive. What was once hesitant becomes bold. What was once uncertain becomes purposeful. And people begin to ask, “What does this mean?” That question still matters today, because the Spirit does more than create a moment, but it creates life.

    WHEN THE SPIRIT MOVES - "We Learn to Wait"

    We begin our sermon series, “When the Spirit Moves,” with the message “We Learn to Wait.” The first movement of the Spirit in Acts is not action. It’s waiting. That may feel surprising, even uncomfortable. Because when we think about faith, we often think about “doing” …going, serving, building. But before any of that begins, Jesus gathers his disciples and gives them a single instruction: Do not leave. Wait for the promise. Wait for the Spirit. Wait for the power that does not come from you. Waiting, in Scripture, is never passive. It's an active trust. It’s the discipline of believing that God is at work even when nothing seems to be happening.

    The story of the church begins with a promise. After the resurrection, Jesus gathered his followers and told them something unexpected. Before they rushed into the world, before they began preaching or organizing or planning, he gave them one instruction: Wait. Wait for the gift the Father has promised. Wait for the power of the Holy Spirit.

    JESUS IN HIGH-RESOLUTION: “Seeing the King Clearly”

    Palm Sunday is loud with praise, but Luke tells the story with tears. The crowd sees Jesus clearly enough to call him King. But they do not yet understand the kind of king he is. He does not enter with force. He does not seize power. He does not silence opposition. He weeps. It is possible to worship Jesus and still misunderstand him.

    JESUS IN HIGH-RESOLUTION: “Blind Spots”

    By now, we’ve talked about seeing the light and naming where our vision feels blurred. This Sunday, Jesus turns the lens inward. Blind spots are rarely intentional. Most of the time, they are places where we feel most confident and places where we assume we see clearly. And yet, Jesus reminds us that even religious devotion can become misaligned when we stop examining our hearts.

    JESUS IN HIGH-RESOLUTION: “Blurred Vision”

    By the second week of Lent, the light has been revealed, but clarity has not yet settled. This Sunday we encounter one of the most honest moments in Luke’s Gospel. John the Baptist, the faithful prophet who announced Jesus, now asks: “Are you the one… or should we look for another?” That question doesn’t come from cynicism. It comes from confinement. From disappointment. From unmet expectations. Even faithful people experience blurred vision.

    JESUS IN HIGH-RESOLUTION/ "Seeing the Light"

    Lent does not begin with improvement. It begins with illumination. Before Jesus calls anyone to change, he reveals what is true. Before repentance, there is revelation. Before clarity of action, there is clarity of sight. This Sunday we meet Simeon, a man who waited long enough, trusted deeply enough, and listened carefully enough to recognize salvation when it was placed quietly in his arms. He did not figure Jesus out. He recognized him. There is a difference.

    “Shining the Light: Hope"

    Hope is the light that endures when the journey feels long. It is not optimism that ignores hardship, nor is it wishful thinking that everything will turn out easily. Biblical hope is deeper than that. It is the quiet confidence that God is still at work, renewing strength, sustaining faith, and shaping something good even when we cannot yet see it.
