    Tania Viveros EP 16

    Tania Viveros EP 16

In this episode I talk to Artisan, Tania Viveros, who is also a teacher (both High School & College) a mom, a wife and a prominent figure in the Rio Grande Valley community.

    .

    .

    Her bio is as follows:

    .

    .

I was born on December 24, 1988 in Reynosa Tamaulipas Mexico, and raised in The Rio

Grande Valley. I received my bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Design in The University of

Texas Pan American and my master’s degree in Studio Art from The University of the Rio

Grande Valley. As an Artist my work has been exposed in various art fairs, which have enabled

me to inform and expose to the community of The Rio Grande Valley the richness of art in

jewelry metal smith, found objects, and sculpture’s using palm tree leaves. My art pieces have

been shown at, The Upper Valley Art League in Mission Texas, Hands in Art Studio in Mission

Texas, The Charles and Dorothy Clark Art Gallery in Edinburg Texas, Movement Gallery in San

Antonio Texas; an installation titled Archival Evolution in The UTPA Library, just to name a

    few.

    .

    .

My current work is wrapped around the idea of taking debris and recreating art in an

abstract form. I take palm tree leaves, seeds, branches, tree trunks, corn leaves, and many organic

materials that focus on texture and form. By connecting each object to other forms, I depict the

Passionate Flower. These flowers are created and recreated in various forms of art each piece

contrasts some are more obvious than others, but in the end, everything created correlates to the

    context of passion.

    Edgar Salinas EP 15

    Edgar Salinas EP 15

In this episode, I interview none other than my good compa Edgar Salinas; and it also happens to be my first ever Spanish episode ever.

    🚛

Edgar Salinas has followed his family's footsteps by becoming a trucker for BALSA Transport LLC in Edcouch, TX. Nevertheless, his plan wasn't always to join the family business. He spent his early 20's working in the refineries of Louisiana and at a Pawn shop. It wasn't until his father convinced him of the great opportunities that laid ahead of him. Now as a father of 4 kids and one more on the way, I sat down with Edgar to catch up with him about the trucker life, working with family and having a family.

    🚛

Thank you to Backdoor Modern Vintage for letting us use the studio. You can find Yvette's shop at 907 W Business 83, Weslaco, TX 78596

    DJ Starrfox EP 14

    DJ Starrfox EP 14

In this episode I talk to Cindy Gomez-Paslak, also known as DJ Starrfox

    .

    .

She was born and raised in East Los Angeles, California and moved to the RGV when she was 20 years old. Since then, she's been a long time resident of Mission, Texas. Cindy became a teenage mother at the age of 16. She's a proud mother of two boys Julian (31) and Sean (19). She graduated from The University of Texas Pan American (now known as UTRGV) in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in business administration.

    .

    .

By day she's an accountant. By night, she's DJ Starrfox. You can catch her spinning all your favorite vinyl's in local spots around McAllen & The RGV. Cindy started to collect vinyl records at the age of 13. The first two records she purchased were Hombres G (a spanish Rock Band) and Mecano (a Spanish Pop Band). She still has those two records in her collection.

    .

    .

Her vinyl collection consists of over 600 records and includes a wide variety of genres to soothe even the most exacting ears. Listening to her set will have you taking a stroll down memory lane and/or fist pumping to the latest beats.

    .

    .

Cindy credits music for allowing her to maintain a positive attitude throughout her life span. Now at the age of 49, she strongly believes you should always follow your dreams regardless of age or circumstance.

    .

    .

This is exactly the take away message she would like to share with everyone - especially young teenage mothers. Her love for music, coupled with her people-skills, have finally allowed her to reach her dream of becoming a vinyl DJ.

    David Potwin EP 13

    David Potwin EP 13

In this episode I talk to David Potwin, who is a conceptual artist from Dallas, TX.
    .
David is the oldest of 3 children. He first put brush to canvas at 8 years old.
    .
He shares the following statement: "I'm quite content to be a painter of pictures. For me, painting is a synthesis that considers the myriad aspects of human awareness expressed in visual form. It melds together philosophy, physics, sociology, emotion, mysticism and eroticism with craftsmanship. I like to tweak the colors to tease the eye with a sense of light and expressed energy. I consider my work conceptual realism." .

As in contrast with skateboarding; skating has been an outlet that I never knew would be something that would open my eyes and introduce me to so many different people and open up my avenues. As well inspire me to strive and thrive to fine tune my own creativeness applying it right.
