How Substack Actually Converts (And Why Podcasters Are the Best Positioned to Win)

Join Yana's Viral Notes Creator + QUEST HERE  In Part 2 of my conversation with Yana, we get into the part most people never talk about. Not just how to show up on Substack, but how it actually converts into real revenue and why podcasters are uniquely positioned to win on this platform. Yana's free-to-play conversion rate sits at 10%. The industry average is 1 to 3%. We break down why Substack attracts subscribers who are already ready to buy, how the recommendation feature grows your list on autopilot, and what it actually takes to engage on the platform without it becoming another full-time job. We also get into automation. Yana built a system that takes her Substack content and distributes it across Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube without her having to touch any of it. And for podcasters specifically, she makes the case that your episode archive is already a content library and a product waiting to be built.   CONNECT WITH YANA Join Yana's Viral Notes Creator + QUEST HERE Unplugged with Yana (Substack) HERE CONNECT WITH JENN Ready to take your next step toward building a business from story? Every Podcaster Should Consider Starting a Substack (It's Not Just a Newsletter)

Join Yana's Viral Notes Creator + QUEST HERE    Substack is far more than just a newsletter platform; it is a complete ecosystem that allows podcasters to take full ownership of their audience. In a world where social media algorithms are unpredictable, building an email list on a platform designed for discoverability is the smartest move a creator can make. I am joined by Yana to explain how Substack serves as an all-in-one creator platform that combines social media, email marketing, and paid subscriptions. We discuss how podcasters can stop the endless social media grind and start building a real business asset that they actually own. Unlike traditional social platforms, Substack lets you export your data at any time, so your audience belongs to you, not an algorithm. One of the biggest advantages of Substack is the ability to convert listeners into subscribers through features like Substack Notes and built-in recommendations. Yana shares how creators can use targeted AI tools to simplify their writing process and how a single viral post can lead to thousands of new subscribers. We also dive into the technical side, including how to integrate your podcast RSS feed and automate content distribution across other social channels without extra effort. Why AI is Killing Your Podcast (And How to Stop Burnout)

Are you feeling burnt out by the constant pressure to turn your podcast into a content machine? In this video, we explore why relying too much on AI and trying to be everywhere at once might actually be killing your business revenue and personal joy. It is time to stop the hamster wheel and start building real human connections again. After six years in the industry, I have seen a massive shift in how we create. While AI tools offer amazing shortcuts for editing and transcriptions, they often trap us in a cycle of quantity over quality. We discuss the transition from content creator to connection builder and why that distinction is key to long-term success. Your business is built people-first, not algorithm first. I am sharing my raw personal journey of how my revenue shifted when I focused too much on solo content and AI automation versus deep, interview-based relationships. You will learn why platforms like Substack are the future for podcasters who want to build trust in what I call a trust recession. We need to focus on what brings us joy and what actually leads to conversations, not just empty views. If you are ready to stop the burnout and start growing with ease, visit podcastcpr.com to book a free 30-minute audit with me. Let is look at your capacity and get you moving one step forward today. The Hidden Cost of Adding Video to Your Podcast

Are you feeling the pressure to add video to your podcast just because everyone else is doing it? Hold up,  before you jump on the Apple video bandwagon, let's have a real conversation about whether this trend is actually serving you or setting you up for burnout. I'm getting vulnerable here because last week I may have gotten a little too excited about Apple's new video feature. But after some serious reflection (and journaling in my cheetah print pajamas), I realized I might have led you astray.   The truth bomb: Just because you can add video doesn't mean you should. We're in a trust recession, and people are craving depth over dancing lawyers and trendy music overlays. I'll share why some of my most successful clients with "spicy" content thrive on podcast platforms but would be immediately shut down on YouTube. Plus, discover why that 7% statistic about people preferring video might not be worth the energy drain. Your 15-minute bold action challenge: Take time to evaluate what marketing strategies actually feel aligned with your energy and values. Look around at who's doing business in a way that resonates with you – are they chasing every trend or going deep with their audience? Remember, you're not here to create ripples – you're meant for tsunamis of change. But don't dilute that tsunami by burning yourself out on strategies that don't build the deep connections your business needs. Are you ready to stop performing and start connecting? Let's explore whether video is truly serving your mission or just adding to the content chaos. P.S. Craving deeper connections with your audience? I offer a FREE personalized podcast audit sessions to help you build authentic relationships that convert. Visit PODCASTCPR.COM to learn more!

Apple Podcast Video Update, Should You Add Video?

Are you feeling that familiar panic as Apple announces video capabilities for podcasts? I get it, you're sitting there thinking, "I'm an audio-only podcaster!" But before you start hyperventilating about having to show up on camera, let's talk about what this really means for your show. Apple just dropped the news that video is coming to their podcast platform this spring, joining Spotify in the video game. And while part of me wants to celebrate this upgrade, another part of me is concerned about what this means for the magic of audio-only content. GRAB A PODCAST CPR AUDIT HERE The Reality Check You Need Here's what's happening: if you're going to make the effort to record video for Apple Podcasts, you might as well set yourself up to win on YouTube too. But, and this is a big but, you cannot just take your full podcast episode and slap it on YouTube expecting it to perform. It won't work, and it might actually hurt your channel. GRAB A PODCAST CPR AUDIT HERE Your 15-Minute Action Step Before you get swept up in the video excitement, determine what it will actually take for you to show up on video: What changes to your recording setup? How much additional editing time? What personal preparation (hair, makeup, background)? Is this sustainable for your current workflow? Remember, only 7% of podcast listeners exclusively watch video content. That means 93% still prefer audio. So ask yourself: is the effort worth it for that small percentage, or are you better served by focusing on what makes podcasting magical - that intimate, audio-only connection? Ready to explore video without overwhelming yourself? Consider whether you want to simply add video to Apple and Spotify, or if you're ready to strategically leverage YouTube's superior searchability to grow your audience organically. The choice is yours, but whatever you decide, make sure it aligns with your capacity and your audience's needs. Your story deserves the right platform  whether that's audio-only or includes video.   GRAB A PODCAST CPR AUDIT HERE
