D&J's Epic Quest - A Malazan read-through

I started reading Malazan and listening to this podcast at the same time. I definitely read more than one chapter a week, so sometimes I fall a bit behind on the podcast. But I really enjoy listening to D & J! They are super funny and do a great job at not spoiling anything and also catching things I didn’t. I was a bit disappointed to see they are covering a different book as well now, because I selfishly want to have them read Malazan as quick as possible so that they are always ahead of me in the books so that I can come listen to the podcast as soon as I’m done reading.

First, these guys are achieving what they set out to do: have fun while reading a series that they are interested in. By doing one chapter a week, they can focus in a bit deeper. Early on, I got the feeling that one of them was not as into it as the other, but then it got better. My complaints, which might have gotten better since the first book (I quit after about twenty episodes) are little things that might not annoy you, but they built up over time for me. 1) Their humor can get a little too adolescent at times. I hang around middle school kids all day, and I need a break. 2) The episodes are looong. I found myself fast-forwarding through the first five to ten minutes because I’m not that interested in their personal lives. 3) They mispronounce a lot of words!!!! Example: Belfry is pronounced bell-free, not bell-fry! (And he says it at least ten times wrong in one episode). They do a good job of summarizing and theorizing as they read, and if you don’t mind their humor or their pronunciation issues, I think you will like them. Just not for me. Plus, I would be reading 1-2 chapters a day, and they spend two hours on each chapter.
