    Ep 02 - FAMILY DAY: The Evolution, The Legacy, The Importance & How to Create Your Own

    Welcome back to the Daddy Daughter Time Podcast. In this episode Daddy and Daughter duo, Tahlib and Naheemah discuss family traditions and how to create your own. Tahlib begins by talking about "Family Day", what it involves and how it came about. During that conversation, Tahlib talks about the importance for them to be able to speak and get anything that’s on their mind off their chest. Continuing from that conversation, they discuss the power of being present with your family and making it a priority, even if it’s for 10 minutes. It's not about quantity but quality. You have to be there (i.e. present and engaged) with them physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally to really nurture them to feel supported, understood, important, and loved. Naheemah also suggests a table of gratitude and speaks of the incredible things some of her children have said to her and what they’re thankful for. She also speaks of the importance of meeting your child at eye level and making them feel valued.     Welcome to the Daddy Daughter Time podcast where daughter Naheemah and Daddy Tahlib discuss their bond from both their points of view. Naheemah and Tahlib begin by discussing the background of the podcast and how the goal is to bring to the table the voices of the millennials and the boomers which often silence one another. Tahlib tells us all about his new book, “Daddy’s Little Guls: Big Girl's Special Day,” which is all about his eldest daughter special day into womanhood, the importance a dad has in shaping the narrative of beauty when raising young queens and how difficult parenting can be, especially as a single parent. Tahlib explains that the book is the first in a series and it prepares parents for parenthood. Naheemah discusses her transition into womanhood and how it was a beautiful experience for her and was filled with love. She talks about how she’s grateful for the experience and how she’s excited for her own daughter to experience it. Finally, Tahlib talks about the need to learn to be the love in your family and how you need to be the change you want to see in the world.
