025 - Dan and John Bean, LMHC, round 2

Welcome to Dan's Den podcast. In this episode I sit down with John Bean for another great discussion about mental health, counseling and therapy, and more. We talk about acupuncture protocols, CBT and brain plasticity in response to thought and emotions, and a bit about the dopamine reward system and addictive processes. John elaborates on different types of trauma and provides some analogies about depression and anxiety syndromes. I ask John about his thoughts on the subconscious and the collective unconscious, Carl Jung, synchronicity, and death. We end by discussing a bit about 'ego' and its various definitions vs. personality and 'sense of self'. Check out our first conversation in episode 021, and in that episode description you can find links to John's website along with a great resource for finding mental health counselors for your individual needs and preferences. Don't forget to 'follow' Dan's Den, and please share this episode with someone! Hopefully this can reach more people and we can help to create an environment where mental health can be addressed more readily and thoroughly. Enjoy, and thanks for listening.
