God planned this victory long ago, and Jesus himself predicted it multiple times, even demonstrating His power over death. This event is not just a historical story but a reality that directly impacts every individual's life. The historical evidence for the resurrection is supported by both the fearful measures taken by religious leaders to prevent it and the unwavering testimony of the disciples. These witnesses endured extreme persecution for decades without ever denying what they had seen, proving the truth of their message.

    Jesus' Lament Over Jerusalem - Matthew 23

    Jesus’ lament over Jerusalem reveals His deep desire to gather and protect His people, a sentiment that reflects the continuing spirit of Christ toward a rebellious nation. Although God deals with both individuals and nations, the rejection of the Messiah by Jerusalem’s leaders culminated in a refusal of the very grace offered to them. The consequence of this repeated rejection is a judgment in time, leaving the house of Israel deserted until the Lord returns and is received with blessing. While the nation as a whole rejected Him, tens of thousands of individuals chose to follow Christ. Ultimately, the heart of Jesus remains one of care and unity, even as He warns of the destruction that follows a refusal to repent.

    Jesus delivers a bold, public condemnation of the Pharisees, exposing their spiritual vanity and inconsistent actions. He uses eight "woes" to describe them as "whitewashed tombs"—outwardly beautiful but inwardly corrupt and dead. This hypocrisy serves as a warning to the crowd to prioritize sincere, humble devotion over religious pretension. These rebukes culminate in a declaration of judgment upon the generation that rejected God's messengers. Jesus laments over Jerusalem, revealing His desire for their redemption even as He predicts the city's coming desolation. Ultimately, he calls for a heart-level examination to ensure our own faith is honest and pleasing to the Lord.

    In Matthew 22, the Herodians, Sadducees, and Pharisees attempt to marginalize Jesus through dishonest public challenges regarding taxes and the resurrection. Jesus avoids their political traps by affirming that one can be subject to both government and God. He further rebukes the Sadducees' lack of biblical understanding, declaring that God is the God of the living. When the Pharisees test His knowledge of the law: Jesus identifies the greatest commandments as loving God and loving others. He then asserts His own divinity by questioning how the Messiah can be both David’s son and David’s "Lord." While His opponents are silenced by this wisdom, these interactions confirm He is truly "God with us."

His actions prove He is the rightful King with the authority of God Himself. Jesus further demonstrates His authority by using divine wisdom to silence the Chief Priests and elders. By questioning the source of John’s baptism, He exposes their hypocrisy and establishes His own superior standing. Ultimately, these events show that Jesus claims total authority over all lives as both Redeemer and Lord.

    The Triumphal Entry of Jesus to Jerusalem - Matthew 21

    The Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is a familiar story that takes on deeper meaning when viewed through the historical Jewish perspective. As pilgrims made the grueling long trek from Jericho to Jerusalem for the religious festivals, Jesus deliberately chose to fulfill prophecy by entering the city as a humble King. This entrance was a clear claim to His identity as the Messiah and the rightful heir to the throne of David. While the traveling pilgrims greeted Jesus with excitement and songs of "Hosanna," the permanent inhabitants of Jerusalem reacted with fear and indignation. The city was "shaken" by the arrival of what appeared to be a rebellious mob, fearing that Jesus posed a threat to the religious status quo and could trigger a violent Roman reprisal.
