    Wolves of the Calla #3 (Pt1, Ch2 Sc5-11, Ch3 Sc 1-4)

    📖 Section Covered: Part 1, Chapter 2 Subchapters 5-11, Chapter 3 Subchapters 1-4 📢 Episode Summary: We continue with Eddie and Jake in New York City as they enter the Manhattan Restaraunt of the Mind where they see Kid 77 buy the two books, and Eddie has a feeling that everyone in that shop and in Mid World were in great danger. Jake takes a risk and gets closer to his past self and calls Eddie over as the name of the author of Charlie the Choo-Choo has changed from Beryl Evans to Claudia y Inez Bachman. As Kid 77 leaves our version of Jake as well as Eddie and Oy leave to stand outside where it feel less wrong. As they are ready to follow Kid 77 to The Rose a Lincoln Town Car pulls up and Eddie is stunned to see Enrico Balazar get out and enter the book shop. They follow them in where all but Aaron Deepneau in the shop scatter. Balazar wants to talk to Tower in the backroom. They go back there and the door is locked but Eddie and Jake can move through the door, but it spooks Balazar and his goons. They show Tower a paper he signed and the chimes start but Eddie uses all of his willpower to read it and it is from Sombra Corporation that paid Tower $100k to keep a vacant lot unencumbered and give them right of first refusal to buy the lot by July 15 (it is currently May). The chimes finally take them out of whatever this is. We are then introduced to a new character, and a new person living inside Susannah, Mia Daughter of None and she is pregnant. She is in a great banquet hall that is empty with strange sounds, and she is eating for two.     Wolves of the Calla #2 (Pt1, Ch1 Sc1-5, Ch2 Sc 1-4)

    📖 Section Covered: Part 1, Chapter 1 Subchapters 1-5, Chapter 2 Subchapters 1-4 📢 Episode Summary: We join our Ka-tet fo the first time in this book as time is feeling super elastic and the passage of time feels non-existant to them as they move along the path of the beam. The New York gunslingers seem enamored with the number 19 whereas Roland has no interest in it. The find what was likely once a road that is roughly following the beam and they begin following it. The enter a wood that seems from a fair tale, Eddie shares Hansel and Gretel with Roland who loves our stories but seemingly as a way to understand our world. Jake peels off for a bit and comes back with Muffin Balls, they all eat them and after they do Roland tells them they can bring vivid dreams. Also Jake mentions they are being followed, Roland knew all along (including how many), Susannah is a bit cold that he didn't tell them. Roland is not concerned about them. Jake and Eddie dream about being in New York (along with Oy) but it feels to real to be a dream and it feels like going into the Ball to see Roland kill his mother. They see another Jake, that is cutting school at Piper. Our Jake and Eddie both heard chimes when coming into this New York and despite it being morning feel it is dark somehow. They follow Jake 77 into the bookstore where he will buy the riddle book and Charlie the Choo-Choo.     Round Table #178

    📢 Episode Summary: In the latest Round Table Tadd and Peter have a tidal wave of Carrie stuff to talk about. San Diego Comic Con had a full fledge panel for Flanagan's series. They released the first trailer and there have been a number of articles that really give us a good sense of what this series is going to be and how different from the novel it is going to be. There were also a few 'First Look' articles previous to the trailer with a lot of good images and stuff not in the trailer so the boys break it all down along with speculating what the show might be.     Wolves of the Calla #1 (Prologue)

    📖 Section Covered: Prologue  📢 Episode Summary: In the first episode of a brand new book, Tadd and Peter dive into Book 5 Wolves of the Calla. In a first for this series we start the book with someone other than Roland or our Ka-Tet. We find a farmer named Tian Jaffords in a cursed part of his field. He is working his very tall but simple-minded twin sister. A robot named Andy comes and Tian guesses (correctly) he is bringing news of the Wolves, they are coming in 30 days. He is distraught, so too is his wife who was watching their 5 children, two sets of twins and a "singleton" and Tian wonders if it is time to say no to the wolves. We also see his wife has a large simple-minded twin, and they have a "Grand-pere" living with them. He calls their town together, their town is so small there is not even a sheriff let alone any sort of leader, and many show up including eight Manni and a late-coming stranger. They debate standing up against the Wolves. We learn they have been coming for six generations (give or take) and they take one of the two twins from age 3 to puberty and the one they take comes back "Roont" empty of mind and large of body. We also find out that twins are the norm here and "singletons" are rare and coveted because they are safe from the Wolves. The Wolves come every 20+ years or so. It is not overly going Tian's way, the folks appealing to reason are winning the day, but finally the later-comer speaks up and we find out it is Father Callahan, he of Salem's Lot, and he challenges them all to stand. He then says because they are just farmers and ranchers they should hire some killers and there are four of them travelling nearby along the path of the Beam.     Round Table #177

    📢 Episode Summary: In the latest Round Table Tadd and Peter have wrapped the Book Club series on Wizard & Glass so they spend some time talking about the big takeaways that they both got from the Book Club unencumbered by spoiler restrictions in the Book Club episodes. They talk a bit about the Rhea vs Cordelia in terms of who is worse, and also the much bigger part the Wizard's Glass played in the story and how so much more can be laid at its feet. Beyond that they also cover another email. Then an NBA superstar is a fan of the series, how similar are King and Shakespeare, we are getting an adaptation of Mister Yummy, and The Dark Tower pops up on a few Top 10 lists including best Dark Fantasy Novels and Best Books of the 00s.     Wizard and Glass Book Club #40 (Pt4, Ch4, Ch5 Sc1-5, Afterword)

    📖 Section Covered: Part 4 Chapter 4, Chapter 5 Subchapters 1-5, Afterword 📢 Episode Summary: In the final Book Club for Wizard and Glass Tadd and Peter follow the ka-tet into the Grapefruit to see the final chapter of Roland's tragic origins story. Roland goes looking for his mom after his return from Mejis and after he is given his birthright guns. The New Yorkers are "in" Gilead watching. Roland does not see someone hiding behind the drapes. He goes into the bedroom and the Ball is there, the figure comes from behind and the Ball makes him think it is Rhea holding a snake, he turns and fires and only sees a fraction of a second after pulling the trigger it is not Rhea but his mother holding a peace-offering belt for him. Rhea appears in the Ball and taunts him, but then she can seemingly see the New Yorkers as well and tells them to cry off, he has killed everyone he has ever loved. Jake goes to detroy the ball and it flashes them out of the vision. They are now miles from the palace, time has slipped and they have travelled 30 miles. They see they are back on the path of the Beam. Roland gives them leave to break from the journey, but they all say they are with him until the end. They ask some clarifying questions about the backstory Roland answers what he can. A note is left from Flagg telling them to cry off.
