Bonus Episode: Coach B.K. & IU Basketball with Kyra Mahoney
Welcome to another DayStrider Bonus Episode - covering a tiny morsel about Coach Bobby Knight and Indiana University basketball! Coach Knight was at I.U. for nearly 30 years and brought the program much glory - but along the way, sometimes his behavior and approach was called into question. Hear a little about that from the perspective of a recent college grad.
You will learn a little bit about the blemish surrounding Indiana basketball’s undefeated season (the last college team to ever do so) and hear some additional stories and color surrounding the chair throwing incident that took place in February 1985. Kyra Mahoney researched these incidents for her history final essay and together we bring them to life and talk through how these events made her feel as well as how the program's success enabled some folks to look past their concerns - but we kept it fun and engaging as well.
Oh yes - Kyra’s speed round Q&A goes a little deeper than usual - thanks Kyra for keeping us on our toes!
This DayStrider Bonus Episode features the full-length interview that was highlighted in Episode 9: February 23rd: The Little Frozen Hero. In that episode you will also learn a little about the Tootsie Roll and appreciate aluminum a little more.
Enjoy!
