Leading figures in the fashion industry have commended The Metropolitan Museum for the event, observed by the public via social media and press coverage. Weather you consider it to be an exhibition for unleashing creative potention or a frivalous performance, The Met Gala has never failed to be the subject of public interest. This podcast evaluates the significance of The Met Galas cultural contributions through examining it's history, performative nature, and uncanny similarities with a dystopian fiction. The sociological theories of Veblen and Bourdieu exploring high culture and upper class behaviours are used to analyse, alongside contributions of first hand experiences from fashion students.
