Dean's Killer Joke

First a popular comedian, then a canceled comedian, then a dead comedian. Dean and the joke that killed him is at the center of this dramedy, cozy murder mystery. And who better to solve the mystery than the one originally responsible for the joke? Dean’s Killer Joke is two parts comedy to one part reflection on duty of care—of self for one’s friends, and of comedians for the public—and vice versa. How far should the consequences of one joke extend? I enjoy the more serious musings, as well as the obvious high production quality which transitions seamlessly between past and present for a clear, cohesive narrative. I can wish for a little less jokes sometimes. But overall, this is a good ride of a well thought out cast of characters.

It’s not often I laugh out loud at podcasts, but the character of Malcolm is absolutely hilarious. This show is so well done and funny.

Usually I just stick to the podcast app but Dean’s Killer Joke has me following them on Instagram to find out when I can get the next episode. I love it. The story is creative and the writing is fantastic. It’s not often I laugh out loud from a podcast, let alone a mystery one. Every episode I think I figured out who the killer is, but as the story evolves it’s making me question myself. I’m even listening back to old episodes just to test my predictions. Above all: production quality is AMAZING. The actors, music, and sound are great - I really feel immersed. I love Anne-Marie the most, she’s a great actress. Can’t wait for more episodes.

This podcast has really been making waves among people who know about these things. It finally seems to be coming out. Could not be more excited. They have a lot of really noteworthy indie award winners on the team. They should make this a TV show.
