Firsts With Jennifer Garner (Eps. 109-112)

Firsts With Jennifer Garner (Eps. 109-112)

Greg returns to discuss Episodes 109-112 with Juliet. They cover many firsts for Felicity: her first Thanksgiving away from home, her first finals, her first time (almost). It’s a momentous stretch for 'Felicity' and for TV as we now know it. Jennifer Garner appears as a guest star, playing Noel’s girlfriend Hannah, and it’s her first step into the J.J. Abrams cinematic universe. We commemorate the occasion as Garner comes on the podcast to talk about auditioning for the role of Hannah, working with J.J. on 'Alias,' and why she’s seen every episode of 'Felicity' despite appearing in only a few of them.

Pink Guy With Devon Gummersall and Joanna Robinson

Pink Guy With Devon Gummersall and Joanna Robinson

Content warning: Juliet, Mandy, and the guests discuss 'Felicity' Episodes 107 and 108, which depict rape.
In the years since the episodes “Drawing the Line: Part 1” and "Part 2" (107 and 108) aired on the WB, they have remained the most progressive ones. Juliet enlists The Ringer’s Joanna Robinson to talk about why those episodes have endured both because of and despite the difficult topic of rape. Next, Mandy joins Juliet to discuss some behind-the-scenes context, and finally, Devon Gummersall joins the show to talk about the duality of playing Pink Guy on Felicity and Brian Krakow on 'My So-Called Life.' Gummersall reflects on how playing both guys impacted his career overall.

Great podcast!

Such a great podcast for any fans of Felicity. Full of behind the scenes info and tons of nostalgia. My only complaint is that Juliet doesn’t allow listeners to submit questions. For example, I’d love to know how Janeane Garofalo got cast as the voice of Sally, why it went uncredited, and if they ever considered having Sally appear on screen. I’d also love to know more about the decision to replace the tapes to Sally with the docuventary confessionals and then to replace the documentary confessionals with sessions with Dr. Pavone. Also, what was behind the change in the theme song and title sequence in season 3?

Nostalgic Peek Behind the Curtain of an Underrated Show

Juliet has done an A+ job with the production of Dear Felicity. From the Felicity-style tape recorded narrative at the top, to the insight imparted by her cohosts Amanda (Megan) and Greg (Sean), the interviews with cast, crew and studio peeps, she strikes the perfect balance between interviewer and fan girl. Does she have the smoothest podcasting voice out there? No. But what can she do about that? She is putting out a top-notch product that I truly look forward to every week. Keep up the great work, Juliet!
