Wonderful characters in an intriguing story. Death at Sunset is worth listening to.

I’m one episode into the second season of this fantastic podcast and I find myself carving out my afternoon to make room for an uninterrupted listed to episode 2. Like the first season, Maxwell and Davis have created a fully realized Los Angeles noir, with their characteristic one-liners revealing both a tribute to and a modern parody of the genre. The plot has plenty of forwards to keep me engaged, but the real delight of the podcast lies in its wide range of characters. The cast is expert at delivering both the arch dialogue and the more grounded moments. A subtle but appreciated vein of humor runs throughout the narrative. I had several laugh-out-loud moments in episode 1. What’s more: the whole soundscape is incredible. From the music to the foley to vocal performances, I’m completely drawn into the world from the first notes.
