    Episode 20 - Lisa Roy, CEO, Optimum Energy

    It was a pleasure speaking with Lisa who shared her career path from operations early in her tenure to focusing on sales and sales management which allowed her to focus on helping customers lower their energy costs and reduce carbon emissions.  Lisa has a unique perspective on the built environment market given her previous global roles in operations management and M&A.  We discussed the tightening labor market in the industry which is in need of skilled trade and experienced data analysis professionals as more data is being produced but not utilized effectively.  Lisa shared her motivation for joining Optimum Energy given the strong vision of the company to meet client needs with holistic HVAC system optimization delivered through a unique end-to-end approach that includes innovative technology, engineering expertise, and creative financial solutions.  Lisa stressed the importance of how the future of energy optimization is being able to digest complex data to usable pieces of information that changes how buildings operate and improve energy efficiency.  We also discussed the changing landscape of the needs of building operators from focusing on demand reduction to procuring sustainable energy sources.   Thanks Lisa for your valuable insight and your continued leadership in decarbonization solutions.

    🏭 How can we turn commercial buildings into grid interactive assets?  🏢 Courtney Blodgett, Co-Founder of Edo shares how they are accomplishing this on the latest episode of the Decarbonization Disruptors Podcast  Courtney and I had a great discussion where she shared how her passion for sustainability is based on her connection with the natural world.  We delved into Courtney's previous work in Sub Saharan Africa where she discovered the impact of real time energy consumption data that can help create energy and sustainability programs.  Courtney shared Edo's mission to enable a decarbonized grid through a building-centric approach that unlocks the ability of commercial buildings to become reliable grid assets.  They accomplish this mission by leveraging Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), an emerging technology given the increased demand of manufacturing, electrification and data center infrastructure.  We also discussed the potential for sustainability initiatives for the built environment, where 30% of carbon emissions come from building operations.
