Having had multiple hospitalizations due to severe asthma, I initially thought that God was calling me to pursue a career in pediatric medicine so I could use my personal experience as a guide to help children. In my senior year at UCDavis, during an internship at a local middle school as a youth counselor, God clearly spoke to me about a different plan. It was amidst a tough session with a student that I knew my calling was to help others through psychotherapy. The ability to have profound conversations that could lead to life-changing decisions is what initially drew me in and what still keeps my genuine interest in this work. Looking back I can think of several instances where people, who I didn’t even know well, would confide in me. It actually still happens. Before understanding God’s calling, I thought it was odd. However, now I see that God was preparing me on how to create and hold a safe space for other’s thoughts and emotions. I am a first generation Colombian-American, proud of my cultural background and have the understanding of growing up in a bi-cultural environment. I have a Master's and Doctorate in Psychology with a specialization in neurofeedback. I am excited to bring together my psychology knowledge with the advancement in technology as an option for people who are seeking something more than traditional talk therapy. I am married to a firefighter and have two boys with special needs. These pieces of my life and story bring heighten my ability to connect with clients and construct a realistic roadmap to reaching their goals.
