    The Revitalization of Lonesome Pine Raceway with Joey Owens

    Episode 173 is on the scene to discuss the revitalization of Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn Virginia. In order to do that, we welcome the promoter of the speedway and short track racer in his own right, Joey Owens to the show. We discuss what led him to taking on this project, what all needs to be done before opening day in April, and so much more. We give our thoughts on the World Series of Asphalt so far at New Smyrna and give our thoughts about Justin Bonsignore's first win at the track in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday in their opener for 2026. The IceBreaker was held at Florence Motor Speedway on Saturday in South Carolina. Keelan Harvick won his first ever Late Model Stock event in fairly convincing fashion. What does this mean going forward for the young man's career? We also discuss the post race tech inspection gone wrong from Lee Pulliam after it was discovered the Track Arm was not up to spec and the response given by Hedgecock Racing Enterprises as well as some of the other stories headed out of Florence for the first major Late Model Stock event of 2026 is in the books.     Gary Smith

    Episode 170 is on the scene and we welcome Gary Smith to the show. Gary is the defending Legend's Division Champion at Franklin County Speedway and he talks about his 2025 season which saw him compete at Franklin County, Shenandoah Speedway, Ace, Natural Bridge and others. He discusses his photo finishes that he was involved in during the season, which is his favorite short track, why he sold his Stock 4 and his aspirations of moving up in class for 2026. It still may be January but we had some racing this weekend at Tucson Raceway in Arizona and at the Chili Bowl in Tulsa Oklahoma. Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell may have been the favorites but it was 21 year old Emerson Axsom taking home the Golden Driller on Saturday. Kevin Harvick taught young Keelan a lesson on Saturday during the CARS Tour West series event at Tucson while Kole Raz won the Chilly Willy 150 on Sunday. We talk about where Kole ranks among Super Late Model and Pro Late Model stars and whether "East Coast Bias" is in play for West Coast Racers.  The boys also reveal some things they are looking forward to in the 2026 season, some names to look out for this weekend at Speedfest at Cordele and how many days should you wait till you see a doctor since both hosts are sick this week.     Episode 169 is on the scene and we welcome Patrick Staropoli back to the podcast. The Retina Surgeon and Harvard Graduate will finally live his dream at the age of 36 by being a full time NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series driver in 2026. He discusses how he got the ride with Scott Borchetta and Big Machine Racing, the pressure he faces stepping into a car that made the playoffs and won a race last season, which tracks he feels will be his toughest and whether he will have to put his career as a eye surgeon on hold for the time being. It's always a fascinating conversation with the good doctor so strap in and join in on the conversation. We give our reaction to NASCAR's new/old playoff format announcement.     Episode 168 is on the scene and it is our 2026 Season Premiere! The boys review what they have been up for the holidays and why Jody is now the voice for the voiceless. Chris Hettinger has fielded teams in Late Model Stock Competition on the CARS Tour and in other big events. He has tried his hands in the ARCA Menards Series and the Craftsman Truck Series but this year, he takes on his biggest venture yet by becoming an owner in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series for the 2026 season. Chris is our guest this week and gives us a behind the scenes look on how this all came together, being one of the only Ford teams in the garage, maintaining his late model teams and catching us up on his kids successes on and off the race track.  We discuss the New Year's Bash from Dillon which saw Bobbie Tumbelston III pick up his second straight win and discuss why this year's event may have been too long, the Jeff Sparks/Jeff Melton incident and more of the stories coming out of the event. We also give our tributes to Michael Annett, Dennis Hamlin and those involved in the Greg Biffle Plane Crash tragedy and catch you up on the latest news over the break.     Episode 167 is on the scene and we welcome zMAX CARS Tour Star Brandon Pierce back to the show. Last week, Brandon announced his plans for the 2026 season and Brandon tells us how his new deal with Kevin Powell Speed Motorsports came together, when those discussions started, how difficult it was to leave Carroll Speedshop and his thoughts about him being on the cusp of becoming all time starts leader on the CARS Tour.  The boys dive into the recent NASCAR Trial coming to an end and their thoughts about the aftermath and what could come in the future. It is Christmas Time and the boys deliver their presents in the racing world that Santa has left plus they break down the Christmas Clash at Carteret, Carson Loftin returning toe Nelson Motorsports and their thoughts on the 2026 SMART Modified Tour schedule that was released last week and more this week on DLN!
