Matt Walton is currently the Assistant Golf Coach at Wichita State University. He works with collegiate players in all areas of the game to compete on an elite level while providing an environment for them to develop athletically and personally.     005 - Identity Reflects Performance

    In this episode I talk about how your beliefs and identity reflect your performance .  We commonly address habits or the process by identifying a players desired result or outcome. It's time to build the players identity through small daily victories in order to achieve the ultimate outcome.  Identity based habits: 1. Identity- what you stand for/what you truly believe 2. Habits- what actions you take/practice 3. Outcome- your goal (Divison 1/professional etc.) Identity is far stronger and can withstand adversity, this will lead you/the player to continue with positive habits. Outcome habits are based on getting a result - when you get poor results you have nothing to keep you engaged in the process.

    004 - The Importance of Grit

    Episode 004 -  I talk about the importance of GRIT and how it plays a role in your life as a golfer. In order to achieve your goals and greatest heights you need to understand how grit works.  In golf, we all face adversity and therefore our grit is being tested. How you respond, practice, and react will lead you to your outcome.  Embrace the chase rather than the outcome - players who trust and love the process tend to achieve their goals. This is a common trait that GRITTY people practice and demonstrate.  Take a listen to find out how goal setting plays a big role in how grittier you are.

    Episode 003 - I discuss my own journey and how I discovered my own purpose, the reasons behind why I coach, and ways to help you define your own purpose.  About me:  - Originally from Lytham St.Annes, England  - Moved to the United States in 2009 to pursue my dream of playing college golf  - Bachelor's degree in Sport & Exercise Science  Golf Experience: -Assistant Golf Professional -Director of Instruction  -Lead Golf Coach  My Ultimate Goal - Create an environment for college golfers to develop personally, academically, and athletically in order to achieve their purpose in life through the game of golf.

    Episode 002 - Understand the importance of quality practice and implement new ideas to optimize your practice time.  Technical Practice: - Understand the your why (ask questions)  - Understand your tendency  - Understand the solution to your swing improvement Tournament  Practice:  - Have a purpose for each shot - Your intensity at practice should match the intensity you intend to bring to a tournament round  - BRING INTENSITY EVERYDAY

    Episode 001 -  An introduction to the importance and what it takes to be coachable. Being coachable is the foundation of learning and achieving your goals.   What it takes to be coachable:  1. Be open minded - The willingness to learn and develop   2. Vulnerable - The first step in developing your game   3. Hard Work - Does your practice match your goals? What's your purpose?
