A framework for achieving long-term goals and the not-to-do list (Redeeming Your Time book #3)

A framework for achieving long-term goals and the not-to-do list (Redeeming Your Time book #3)

Achieving goals, especially long-term ones can be intimidating and hard. Today we’re going to talk about how to focus on what truly matters and how to better prioritize your commitments.
If we don’t clarify our essentials, we end up doing whatever comes to our attention in the moment.
In many cases, that means we do low-value tasks that pop up in our day and put off the truly important.
We let the noise and hum of the day around us distract us from the things we value.
The reality is, if we don’t spend time on the things we value, we need to evaluate: how much do we truly value them?
To get better at prioritization and setting goals, we need to start much higher than “goals”. We need to start with Values.

Removing the financial distractions from your life (Redeeming Your Time book #2)

Not being able to get into silence or solitude is detrimental to us mentally. It limits our ability to think, be creative, cultivate depth, be at peace, or listen to God or our internal voice.
So how can we remove distractions, or noise, from our lives?
Jordan Raynor lists 8 practices in Redeeming Your Time and in today's episode we discuss 2 of them apply them to your financial life.

Adventure Into Money, Productivity, Mindfulness & More!

This podcast has been so interesting! It encapsulates the ideas from financial & productivity books, into easily digestible 20-40 minute episodes. Kurtis has a soothing voice, and you can hear the passion he has for helping others succeed. He is quick to acknowledge that no one can do it all, and that he’s always trying to improve and use the methods learned. It feels like a journey that we are all going on together, and part of that comes with his Twitter Spaces episodes, where multiple people submit ideas and questions.

The episodes are loaded with info, and usually deserve another listen. The subject can be complex (like money–bank accounts, 401K, Roth IRA, precious metals, cryptocurrency, property, retirement, etc.), but each episode breaks down the bigger concept easily, and gives reference to where to find out more. He gives credit to the authors and links the books in his show notes, which has been helpful – he’s helped me narrow down which books or authors I may like. It sounds like Kurtis is figuring out the best way to compile it all into a mega-resource; each episode certainly bring something useful and easy to remember, things like the 2-Minute Rule, or building your savings mindset by a little percentage each year, and many more. Anyway, it’s a great podcast and I’m hopeful we all apply what we learn, to grow together.
