oooof
I really wanted to like this podcast because I think Demi has a really unique perspective to offer. I even made a point to listen to the episode with Tammy, someone who I also really like and respect. But this is just not it. Maybe in a while I’ll come back out and try it again, but this was hard to listen to. First, we barely actually got any genuine questions asked to the guest - like what did we actually learn about Tammy, besides maybe her work ethic? This was just an hour of banter about other peoples supposed trauma and about how you are in “survival mode” so you shouldn’t be held accountable for your actions. Seems like a stretch but even if you genuinely feel that way, at least talk in specifics. It’s hard to follow when you speak in such generalities. Second, as someone with a clinical background, listening to Demi trying to diagnose Tammy and other individuals was just so cringey and felt borderline inappropriate. Third, the 10 minute rambling about reality steve was unnecessary and completely contradicted the point that you supposedly don’t care what he has to say? Like you went on a high earning reality show, people are going to profit about talking about the contestants. Get over it. You don’t have to agree with it but pretending like there’s no place for it when you literally make a living off social media you gained from the show and “fixed your credit score” by going on the show is honestly insulting to your audience. You spoke publicly about him and rightfully so but he has the ability to do the same. And even if you disagree, a 10 minute tangent ripping him apart for posting a single screenshot of an email he literally got from you - like do you not see the irony? How is that not worse? Idk, overall, super disappointed with the quality of the conversation and the attempt to have a coherent discussion about anything. I hope that with time and structure it will improve and if so I will gladly come back.
