This episode was very interesting because of her love for the desert, the way she found her new journey, willingness to take on everything. As with every podcast, I find similarities with all these brave women. I can’t wait to move to Palm Springs. I envision a big party we have with all podcast guests sharing their stories. Maybe hold event as a fundraiser? Maybe even a calendar like they did in Calendar Girls movie? So many ideas to share.

Deeply essential

Dawn Davis does an incredible job meticulously stitching together the stories of so many women who call the Mojave Desert home. Whether born here or relocated— this desert has an important place for women, then and now, and it’s all being recorded here. From the history of women being able to prove up on a homestead in the 50s (when those pesky mortgages were almost nonexistent for unmarried women) to the women today who are “proving up” their homesteads in a wide variety of life pursuits. Absolutely fascinating.

How Has the Desert Changed You

I have a lot of podcasts in my library, but DLD is in my top 5. I'm fascinated by the lives of others, especially lives in transition. DLD informs and entertains, while giving us a glimpse of guests before, during, and after a transformative change.
