    Fort Jefferson graves

    Not far from Fort Jefferson there was an island. And on that island there was a hospital. But a hurricane in the 1930’s washed it all away. It was lost to history until an archeologist saw something in the water that made him want to look closer. He found foundations to the long-forgotten hospital. And because it’s not far from Fort Jefferson, the pictures of the Fort alone are likely to lead to “that’s now on my bucket list for snorkelers to experience .”

    Saving Corals

    We join a pioneer, Ken Nedimyer, who is expanding the coral reefs and tending to their health. He has engaged volunteer citizen scientists on his mission, but the workload has overwhelming. Ken needs volunteer divers to plant corals, but to grow them on just “a tree” has become inefficient. Ken has embarked on a project that will take corals grown more efficiently on “a farm,” and then put them in the hands of citizen scientists to plant. It is turning into a game changer, and gives divers who join in this eco-adventure a cutting edge place in new science.
