Self-Love, Boundaries, and Being Fully Seen with Lindsey Marie of Powerhouse Women

In this episode, I’m joined by Lindsey Marie, founder of Powerhouse Women, bestselling author and master community builder, for what feels less like an interview and more like a very honest first date between new friends. We touch on business, but mostly we go beneath the surface into worthiness, visibility, boundaries, female friendships, grief, dating, self-trust, and the kind of personal transformation that does not fit neatly into an Instagram caption. Lindsey holds nothing back, diving into what it’s meant to move through the end of a long-term marriage, enduring a complete financial reset, a health scare, and putting herself fully out there in a way she hasn’t ever before. This conversation is about the medicine inside a loving “no,” the freedom of self-validation, the power of platonic intimacy, and why feeling safe in being truly known starts with the willingness to meet yourself first. Highlights: (05:00) - Why telling others “no” is the most loving thing you can do for them (11:45) - Understanding the difference between “nice” and “kind” (19:07) - The medicine that can be found in someone closing a door on us (31:46) - Finding yourself again after grief, divorce and deep personal change (47:00) - How it’s female friendships among women that teaches us real intimacy and repair (58:09) - Letting yourself be seen in the middle of the healing Additional links: Join the 10th annual Powerhouse Women Event 8/14-8/16 in Scottsdale, AZ Follow Lindsey Marie on Instagram Follow Powerhouse Women on Instagram Connect with Lindsay Here Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Writing Is Medicine: Your Journal Could Be the Missing Prescription

Disclaimer: I am not a licensed health professional or doctor and this podcast episode does not include any medical advice, simply researched information. We’re getting nerdy today because if you haven’t learned yet, I’m a forever skeptic needing to know the why behind pretty much everything. This episode is all about the science-backed healing power of writing and how it might be the missing antidote to your healing. I share why writing my first book changed me in ways I could feel before I fully understood, and how I see the same transformation happen again and again with authors through Landon Hail Press. We look at the scientific research behind expressive writing, including how facing the deeper, more painful parts of your lived experience can support emotional processing, nervous system regulation, and can dramatically improve your physical health. A huge first step in healing physically and emotionally is understanding the difference between simply managing emotions and truly processing them - and why consistent, honest writing can help you stop carrying old trauma like it just happened yesterday. Highlights: (00:53) - The reason consistent expressive writing (or journaling) can create massive healing outcomes (03:31) - How the subconscious mind shapes the stories we keep repeating - and the actions that follow (06:35) - The science-backed research studies that support the connection between expressive writing and healing (10:34) - What a daily writing practice can do for stress, illness, and emotional processing (12:09) - The brain function that occurs when writing about pain that moves our trauma from alarm bells to meaning (17:07) - Why buried pain keeps you stuck in the same loop- and how to get out of it Resources: Pennebaker, J.W., Kiecolt-Glaser, J., & Glaser, R. What It Really Takes (and Gives) to Become a Published Author with Amberly Lago: PART 2

Welcome back to Part 2 where I share the second half of a workshop I gave for Amberly Lago’s Unstoppable Success Mastermind, all about the myths and misconceptions that keep so many people from writing and publishing the book they know they’re meant to write. We talk about the false belief that you need to be perfectly clear before you begin, the fear that you’re a “bad writer,” and the idea that becoming an author is only for writers with huge platforms, fancy credentials or endless free time. Spoiler: none of that gets to be the reason your story stays in a notes app forever. We dive into what makes a story compelling, how vulnerability builds trust, and why sharing real and raw experiences in your life activates parts of the brain for true connection. We also get into what actually makes a book a bestseller, beyond just sales numbers and shiny launch graphics - plus a special Q&A with Amberly Lago. Whether you’re writing a book, building a brand or finally owning your message, this episode is about trusting that your story can open doors, for you and for someone else. Highlights: (01:14) - Why waiting for clarity is the reason for your writer’s block (and how to solve this) (02:31) - Busting the myth that you’re a “bad writer” and what is actually going on (05:16) - A peek into the editing process and the different stages (06:29) - The misconception that you need a huge audience to have a successful book (08:09) - Three key points that make your book a Best Seller (16:11) - Q&A with Amberly and how she grew her reader base and audience Follow Amberly on Instagram Checkout Amberly’s Events & Masterminds here Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. What It Really Takes (and Gives) to Become a Published Author: PART 1

Join me in a live workshop I delivered to Amberly Lago’s Unstoppable Success Mastermind where we talk about what it really takes to write and publish a book. It’s not just about gaining credibility, followers, money, or some shiny “author” label. Those things can happen, yes - but the real work starts with who you become in the process. I share the origin story of how I became an author and publisher, why identity and clarity matter just as much as strategy, and the myths that keep brilliant people sitting on their stories for years. Spolier: stepping into this chapter has less to do with “how-to” and everything to do with your belief system. This one is workshop style, so listen, take notes, and actually interact with the prompts. Your book might be closer than you think. Highlights: (02:33) - Why writing a book starts with identity, not just publishing strategy: BE > DO > HAVE (07:04) - The power of prioritizing the “why” over the “how” and how it reorganizes your life (09:51) - My biggest fear realized when my book became an exhibit in court (12:52) - How writing a book can open doors you didn’t know existed and create real abundance (19:50) - The belief check that reveals what is actually stopping you (it’s not what you think) (30:40) - Throwing away your excuses: Practical ways to start writing with the tools already in your life Follow Amberly on Instagram Checkout Amberly’s Events & Masterminds here Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. How to Come Back to Presence When Life Feels Heavy

In this episode, I’m slowing things down and talking about what it really means to come back to yourself when life feels intense, overwhelming, or just a bit too much. I share why reconnecting with your mind, body and spirit is not some abstract idea, but a practical, and necessary, everyday way to feel safer, calmer and more grounded in your own life. We get into body intelligence, emotional awareness, and the ways your body is constantly communicating with you, even when you’re not listening (which is often for many of us!). I also talk about stress, coping habits, and simple practices to help you feel more present because this is the only place that truth really exists. And it’s usually easier than you think - sometimes it really does start with just five intentional minutes a day of returning back to yourself. Highlights: (02:15) - Why you need to pause and let yourself feel the discomfort in order to not feel it anymore (04:34) - Breaking the MBS Integration and why it can change your life (07:24) - The science that proves your physical and mental health are always linked (11:56) - A fascinating research study that exhibits the power of emotions in the physical body (17:19) - The damages of that can occur when ignoring your connection to yourself (27:32) - Simple practices to help you come back into your body and the present moment Add additional links / resources: 2014 Study - Body Map of Emotions (Nummenmaa, Glerean, Hari, & Hietanen, 2014) Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Wedding & Marriage Rituals: Honored Traditions or Patriarchal Conditioning?

In light of the horrific happenings in the world regarding men and consent - it begs the question: how much of this culture is engrained in society? The answer: more than we can ever imagine. In this episode, I am unpacking time honored wedding traditions dating back tens to hundreds of years. While we consciously associate weddings and marriage with love in modern day (for the most part), this was not always the case - and the origins of nuptial rituals prove it. The scary part is what we have been passed down and taught to see as romantic, harmless, and normal is anything but. I explore where these traditions actually came from and why so many of us never stop to question them. Join me on this journey of unraveling my own patriarchal conditioning, internalized misogyny, and waking up to the reality of what we have been fed all of our life. If you’re an actual truth seeker (not just one who claims to be until it’s inconvenient), this episode is for you. Highlights: (02:10) - A life changing parable that will instantly wake you up (04:32) - What patriarchy really means, and why matriarchy is not the opposite (06:44) - Being chosen as the root of women’s worth and why this is harmful (09:48) - The shocking roots of being walked down the aisle and "given away" (11:04) The real reason we assign a woman the man’s last name (14:55) - The dark origin story behind the best man tradition (16:27) Why women are assigned a label, but not men (20:17) Unpacking the root meaning of “honeymoon” and its original purpose (20:34) - Why questioning old rituals can help us choose from truth, not conditioning Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. Detaching from False Narratives of Feminine Power with Alyssa Azcué

In this episode, I’m joined by my close friend and personal coach, Alyssa Azcué for a deeply honest conversation about what it looks like to be in true feminine power and where we may be posturing as women. Alyssa is a feminine embodiment practitioner, blending parts work, somatic trauma healing, and relational neuroscience to support women in reconnecting to their truth, feminine power, and inner stability. We explore important areas like sacred sexuality, cultural conditioning, emotional safety, relationship dynamics, and the difference between external power and the kind that comes from being anchored in your own body and truth. Alyssa and I dive deep into the stories we were handed as women and how to release these false narratives about love, desirability, and self-worth. If you’re ready to step out of performing and efforting for validation, and return to a version of yourself that feels rooted, truthful, and deeply self-held — this episode is for you. Highlights: (02:40) My origin story with Alyssa and how we came together (08:03) - Alyssa’s relationship as fuel for her personal journey of unraveling false power (14:36) - The taxi cab ride in Thailand that exposed Alyssa’s truth and changed her marriage forever (19:37) - The false belief that women must be violated in order to receive love: the perceived cost of intimacy (20:05) - Why performative sexuality can look like power without actually being that (26:18) - Maturing of the feminine system and our responsibility as women to heal our lineage (30:00) - Sacred sexuality, rooting back in the body, and identifying false programming (40:08) - How to find safety in self and practice detachment to speak truth to your partner (44:10) - Alyssa’s line in the sand: leaving her relationship with her now husband (50:48) - Men as the “assessor” and the effect on a woman’s perception of her desirability, worth, and value (55:10) - Male fragility, managing the shame-body, and the role of feminine power in relationship Follow Alyssa Azcué on Instagram: @WildlyWorthy_Official Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here. The Invisible (Very Visible) Load Of Motherhood

Welcome back to another sneak peek from my second book, a collection of entries that go straight to the heart of motherhood, identity, and what it feels like to carry so much while feeling invisible. I invite you into the messy middle of my writing (be nice!), how this book is more memoir than self-help (the power of vulnerable storytelling), and how stepping into the version of you in a moment brings the deepest kind of honesty to the page. You’ll hear about the rawest accounts of my postpartum experience, the invisibility of motherhood, the grief of single parenting, and the emotional weight so many women are expected to carry in silence. Despite feeling isolated and overlooked in this season, there is a remembering that your pain is not your identity. Highlights: (04:38) - The raw truth about motherhood and the changes in your body & identity (06:04) - Why the hospital experience still haunts me (08:00) - The postpartum “support” that is not support at all (10:12) - The therapy moment where I finally felt seen (11:37) - Falling apart while holding it together (14:59) - The fire and the rage that ignites true power Resources: Join SJ’s Writing Retreat Waitlist: WRITE THE DAMN BOOK // Denver, CO Follow SJ on InstagramDownload the Free Identity WorkbookGrab my SLAY YOUR STORY⚔🔥 Storytelling Masterclass here.
