Our Pre-Post-DeviceTalks Boston episode, also MedtronicTalks replay with Gastro CMO Austin Chiang

Our Pre-Post-DeviceTalks Boston episode, also MedtronicTalks replay with Gastro CMO Austin Chiang

First, a quick recap of DeviceTalks Boston. Then, a MedtronicTalks Podcast Replay, in which Austin L. Chiang, MD, explains why he brought his sizable social media following to Medtronic, where he serves as chief medical officer of the Gastrointestinal business. Chiang says his decision is directly tied to his excitement about Medtronic’s growing suite of GI products including the AI-powered GI Genius and the swallowable PillCam. Chiang explains why he chose to couple the company’s broad platform with his own social media presence to reach more patients who may need treatment of gastrointestinal care. He also gives advice to other physicians who may want to amplify their own voices through social media.

DTW – How Baylis fits into Boston Scientific’s EP portfolio; also putting Medtech’s story to music

DTW – How Baylis fits into Boston Scientific’s EP portfolio; also putting Medtech’s story to music

In this episode, Nick Spadea-Anello, Boston Scientific’s global president of electrophysiology, will explain how the $1.7 billion paid for Baylis Medical will help expand the Boston's extensive EP portfolio. We also talk about the message he likes to impart upon employees of recently acquired companies, sharing some lessons he learned when Boston Scientific acquired his then-employer, Guidant.

We also welcome Brian Johnson, president of MassMedic, the top medical device association in New England, into the booth as our co-host.

Johnson, of course, brings his insider perspective to Newmarker’s Newsmakers, but he also shares how everyone needs to do a better job of sharing medtech’s stories. He should know. Johnson is the co-founder of MassDevice and DeviceTalks! So we got an origin story as well.

Executive editor Chris Newmarker brought a powerful newsmaker list including an interesting take on a recent collaboration between Medtronic and GE Healthcare. Other newsmakers include Alcon, Philips, Abbott, and the deal between Medtronic and Acutus medical that might be an answer to Boston’s acquisition of Bayliss.

DTW - Hear how Shockwave and LimFlow are taking the fight to peripheral vascular diseases

DTW - Hear how Shockwave and LimFlow are taking the fight to peripheral vascular diseases

In this episode, we’ll talk to two of the more innovative companies in the peripheral vascular space – Shockwave Medical and LimFlow – about how they’re helping to treat people who previously had few or zero options.

This episode is brought to you by Confluent Medical.

LimFlow CEO Dan Rose walked us through his decision to build his Medtech career in Europe. He also talked about LimFlow’s unique approach to using veins as a route to deliver blood to limbs rather than return blood to the heart.

Our second interview is with Doug Godshall, CEO and President of Shockwave Medical. Godshall admittedly came to medtech later in his career, but he’s taken on some of its most serious and intractable problems, first as CEO of HeartWare and now Shockwave Medical.

You can learn more about Shockwave here

    and LimFlow here.

We’ll also have Chris Newmarker delivering his Newmarker’s Newsmakers including news from Philips, Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Natus Medical, Amazon Web Services, and Dentsplay Sirona.
