God is Love - Christmas Episode 17

Love is who God is. Love is part of His unchanging nature. Our opening readings come from the books of Malachi and James: “Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. We can take great comfort in the fact that we have a God that does not change. Theologians refer to this attribute of God as the “immutability of God.” God does not change. Be Made New in Love - Christmas Episode 16

“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up.” Listen to this passage from the book of Numbers and note the comparison Jesus is making between himself and the bronze snake. “They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea. But the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!” Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. JOY: Jesus, Others, Yourself - Christmas Episode 15

Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods. Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
