Daily Devotions - The Steps of Persecution - June 23, 2026

Acts 13:50 (ESV) - “But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows us a recurring pattern seen throughout Scripture when people reject the truth. After refusing the message of the gospel, opposition against Paul and Barnabas did not remain private. Those who rejected the message sought out influential people in the community and used their influence to stir up wider resistance and persecution. Pastor Sumrall explains that hostility often develops in stages. It begins with rejection, grows as influential voices are enlisted, and eventually spreads to larger groups who may not even understand the real issue. This pattern has been repeated throughout history whenever God's truth challenges deeply held beliefs or interests. Remain faithful, wise, and steadfast when facing criticism or opposition for standing for the truth. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated. Daily Devotions: Things Sacred - June 22, 2026

2 Kings 23:4 (ESV) - “And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest and the priests of the second order and the keepers of the threshold to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on King Josiah’s reforms and the importance of maintaining a sense of what is sacred. When Josiah discovered that objects and practices associated with idol worship had been brought into the temple, he took decisive action to remove anything that dishonored God and compromised the purpose of a place dedicated to His worship. Pastor Sumrall explains that throughout Scripture, God’s people were called to treat what was dedicated to Him with reverence and respect. While believers understand that God's presence is not limited to a building, places, ministries, and things set apart for His service should still be treated with honor and care. Scripture repeatedly shows that God values what is consecrated to Him. This Daily Devotion reminds us to protect what has been dedicated to God and to guard against anything that would diminish its purpose. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated. Daily Devotions: John Mark - June 21, 2026

Acts 13:2 (ESV) - “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares an important leadership lesson from the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas. When the Holy Spirit called individuals for a specific assignment, He clearly identified those He had chosen. Although others joined the team, not everyone had been specifically called to that work. Pastor Sumrall explains that there is a difference between giving someone an opportunity and recognizing a genuine calling. Good intentions, family connections, or a desire to help are not substitutes for God's direction. When people become part of a ministry or assignment without a clear calling from God, difficulties, discouragement, and even departures can occur when challenges arise. This Daily Devotion reminds us of the importance of building teams according to God's leading rather than human preferences. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated. Daily Devotions: Symbols Of Faith - June 20, 2026

2 Kings 18:4 (ESV) - “He removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah. And he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had made offerings to it.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall explores an important lesson from the reforms of King Hezekiah. What had once been a God-given symbol of faith became an object of worship. The bronze serpent, originally used by God to encourage faith and bring healing, had gradually become something the people honored and revered in place of God Himself. Pastor Sumrall explains that symbols can be helpful reminders of God's work, but they must never take the place of a relationship with Him. Throughout history, people have sometimes become attached to objects, traditions, or experiences that once strengthened their faith, only to elevate them beyond their proper purpose. This Daily Devotion reminds us that our faith must always be centered on God. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated.
