Daily Devotions: Good Intentions Do Not Make God’s Will - July 19, 2026

2 Chronicles 6:7–8 (NLT) – “My father, David, wanted to build this Temple to honor the name of the Lord... But the Lord told him, ‘You wanted to build the Temple to honor my name. Your intention is good, but you are not the one to do it.’”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall uses the life of King David to illustrate that a good idea or a sincere desire is not always synonymous with God's will. Even though David had the heart, the designs, and the money to build the Temple, God chose his son Solomon for the task, showing that God's plans are not dictated by our good intentions.   Pastor Sumrall explains that while good intentions flow from our hearts to God, His true will flows from His heart to us. Understanding this distinction helps believers remain patient and obedient, recognizing that God in His mercy may allow us to contribute to a vision, as He did by letting David design and pay for the Temple, even if we are not the ones meant to complete it. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated. Daily Devotions: Questions Are How We Open Our Mind to Learn - July 18, 2026

In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shares his personal method for studying the Bible by approaching the text with questions. He explains that asking questions like "Why did Solomon wait four years to begin construction?" or "Where is the Ark of the Covenant today?" serves to open the mind to deeper insights that might otherwise be overlooked.   Pastor Sumrall explains that reading the Bible should be treated like a conversation with God. While we may not always find answers immediately, the act of questioning signals a heart that is eager to learn and allows the Holy Spirit to bring understanding over time, often revealing truths when we keep reading scriptures. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated. Daily Devotions: Helping Someone - July 17, 2026

Proverbs 3:27–28 (NLT) – “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, ‘Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.’”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall discusses the importance of responding quickly and graciously when someone asks for help. He acknowledges that for people of dignity, the act of asking for assistance is incredibly difficult, and delaying a response only adds to their struggle.   Pastor Sumrall explains that when we have the power to help, we should do so in a way that preserves the other person's dignity. By acting immediately and ensuring they don’t have to ask a second time, we reflect God's character and demonstrate true respect for our neighbors ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated. Daily Devotions: Learning to Know God - July 16, 2026

1 Chronicles 28:9 (NLT) – “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind.”   In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows the vital charge King David gave to his son Solomon regarding the nature of a true walk with God. He highlights that while Solomon had several great encounters with God, David’s life was defined by a consistent, daily friendship and intimacy that sustained him through every season.   Pastor Sumrall explains that getting to know God intimately is a learning process that requires spending quality time in His presence. True worship goes beyond mere words; it involves engaging God with a whole heart and a willing mind, ensuring that our thoughts and focus remain on Him rather than drifting to other distractions during service. ---- Don’t forget to like, subscribe to Cathedral of Praise TV https://www.youtube.com/c/cathedralofpraiseTV/?sub_confirmation=1,and hit the bell icon 🔔 to stay updated.
