Is Travel A Size Inclusive Experience? Ft. Cheyenne Davis

Is Travel A Size Inclusive Experience? Ft. Cheyenne Davis

What is it *actually* like traveling in a fat body? Cheyenne Davis—writer, podcaster, lifestyle content creator, adjunct instructor at NYU, and world traveler—joins Emily (sadly Remy is out sick), to break down the inequities. From struggles to get a seat belt extender (isn’t it supposed to be “safety first?”), to maneuvering an airplane bathroom, Cheyenne unpacks how traveling can be very *not* size inclusive. This transitions into a convo about diet culture and the intersection with racism, before discussing the nuances of groupthink in regards to fatphobia. They break down desirability politics, fetishization, fatphobia in pop culture, *problematic* doctors, all before wrapping up with Cheyenne’s advice for those with similar experiences.

I’m Struggling To Prioritize My Mental Health Over My Physical Appearance

I’m Struggling To Prioritize My Mental Health Over My Physical Appearance

What’s Kibbe body typing? How often do you wash your gym clothes? Remy and Emily dive into these questions (~and more~) on their favorite segment—DSTeachable Moments. They read a listener-submitted message about the Kibbe body typing trend, and unpack the different qualifications from dramatic to gamine to theatric (tune in for the details). Then onto a listener’s explanation of how often she washes her gym clothes, before a question about the struggles with antidepressants, body image, and weight gain. They wrap up with one more DSTeachable moment, re: the gynecology convo, before playing a listener-submitted round of Last Licks.

The Two Types of Diabetes Ft. Sam Morrison & Gastor Almonte

The Two Types of Diabetes Ft. Sam Morrison & Gastor Almonte

Today’s episode is a meeting of the minds and bodies (except for the pancreas). Comedians Sam Morrison and Gastor Almonte join Remy and Emily to talk all about their experiences living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes (respectively). Sam and Gastor share how they were diagnosed, break down the difference between Type 1 and Type 2, and talk about the impact diabetes has had on their mental health. They unpack the symptoms they’ve experienced, what insurance companies do and don’t cover (it’s f*cked up), and if they’ve ever encountered semaglutides (re: Ozempic). Remy and Emily then wrap up by opening the V Files, presented by Queen V, with a listener question about feeling awkward talking to their partner about what they like during sex.

Criticizing Ourselves For Being Self Critical

Criticizing Ourselves For Being Self Critical

Remy and Emily start off with the big question—how are you? Emily gets into her life updates, and admits that her mental health has been quite a mix of ups and downs. Emily unpacks how she gets self critical while in these negative mental headspaces, and Remy shares how she, too, has been struggling with body image and feeling critical. They work through why this might be happening (and how sometimes, you just feel bad and you don’t know why). Then onto a Dear DST, all about a Chinese food buffet and a fat-shaming fortune cookie—who created this gaslighting cookie? Remy transitions to sharing her recent revelations around Squishmallows, dieting, and sexism, before they share a round of some delicious Last Licks.

Don’t Blame Mindy Kaling For Society’s Beauty Standards

Don’t Blame Mindy Kaling For Society’s Beauty Standards

Sami and Aleen are Back For Seconds, following a series of *tumultuous* weeks for Aleen. Aleen gives all of the updates, re: vacation and a nasty virus (the worst). Then Sami shares her latest updates, which include planning an exciting trip, online shopping for that trip, and the mental spiral that followed when a clothing brand’s sizing just didn't work. Sami and Aleen unpack the struggle of body acceptance in a world that promotes comparison and a certain body type. This leads into a convo about the people taking Ozempic recreationally (Ozemp-recs, if you will), and the nuances of weight loss, beauty standards, and the celebrity of it all. Is Mindy Kaling just trying to fit into society's standards?

Melissa shares her own body image journ’, and they talk about how comparison plays a part. They unpack Emily’s experience at fat camp, how their family would go to a nutritionist together, and the pressures surrounding body image and Melissa’s wedding. They wrap up talking about the transition to intuitive eating, body image struggles around pregnancy, and how to have a positive mindset about bodies.

Liking new guests!

I’m liking the new topics and guests! I really enjoyed the latest ep family therapy sesh and the ep with Chrissy King. I think things are looking up for the pod. I hope to never hear one more episode on ozempic. It’s boring.

New hosts are a no

One of them thinks she’s the main host interviewing the other one. It’s condescending. I think they purposely talk about gross things in a desperate attempt to sound relatable. Yet neither host is likable or relatable. Just two self-interested girls with strange opinions. I think they’re 20-30 something girls living in New York. But they talk like 40 year old moms trying to relate to the youth. It’s so strange. Maybe they didn’t get to go to college and socialize? I dont know. The whole thing is confusing

Please get new hosts

This show is awful now. If they want to discuss medical topics- get a medical professional. The conversations are dangerous and providing completely inaccurate information.

Sami and Aleen were respectful and actually provided valuable information.
