Dive Deep, the official podcast of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, is a show where we will dive deep into our faith where we will explore those interesting Catholic questions and issues you may have.
One of our own: Catching up with Bishop Carl Kemme
Bishop Carl Kemme grew up in Effingham County. After becoming a priest, he spent many years in several parishes across our diocese. Then in 2014, he received a call that changed everything. Pope Francis had appointed him Bishop of Wichita. Dive Deep catches up with Bishop Kemme to see how he’s doing, what he misses about our diocese, how often he comes back, and what life is like as a bishop.
The psychology of an atheist
Dr. Kevin Vost of Springfield has a wild faith journey. Growing up Catholic, he later became an atheist. What drew him to become a non-believer and what ultimately brought him back? Dr. Vost shares his incredible story and discusses his field of psychology and how it ties to our faith.
Four-time Superbowl winning coach talks faith, family, football
A graduate of Christ the King and Sacred Heart Griffin H.S. in Springfield, Kansas City Chiefs coach Brendan Daly discusses the interesting job of coaching at the highest level in football and how he has leaned on our Catholic faith throughout the ups and downs, constant job stresses, and moving his family several times all over the country.

12 fun things you didn’t know about Catholicism
Groundhogs Day. Cappuccino. Lay Cardinals. The Easter Bunny. Dive Deep explores those things and more in this episode that will make you say, “I didn’t know that about Catholicism!”
How to vote
This episode was well done. Good to hear the importance of forming one’s conscience before voting. It is far from black and white for Catholics going into the voting booth. Lot’s of gray area, as Fr. House said. A preeminent issue doesn’t exclude others.
Andrew & Amber do a great job with this podcast. Frequent guests, Fr. Chris House, Fr. Michael Friedel, and Fr. Marty Smith add a great element. The interesting, real-world Catholic discussions are exactly what is needed in today’s world.
I really enjoy this podcast. I learn a lot but it’s also easy to understand, interesting, and fun!
