Divorced People
Why is divorce one of the remaining taboo topics in our increasingly outspoken culture? Why can’t we speak more openly about something that happens to half of our legal unions? Why do some couples divorce and some not? Can you predict if you are headed there? And why are we so damn judgey of divorced people? Let’s pull back the curtain and talk about it. Nicole Quallen, divorced person and divorce attorney, will be your host. Nicole has been asking all the questions about divorce since she went through her first one in 2009, and she’s just getting started. Nicole works as a collaborative divorce attorney in her practice, Two Families Law, where she has witnessed and cared for hundreds of families going through the big split. In this practice, Nicole and her team see unbelievable vulnerability, pain, tenderness, and, eventually, growth, and these magical experiences are so worthy of being shared more widely. Divorced People is an offering to the world of an insight into the important, intimate, delicate world of divorce and marriage. It’s a caring stage where transformed folks can share what they have learned and seen. It’s also an attempted thorn into the heart of divorce stigma and pre-judgment about who divorced people are. Join us to hear stories that are sometimes cheering, sometimes achey, and sometimes very ordinary. A reminder to us all that divorced people are, it turns out, mostly just people.

It’s soothing to hear other people’s stories

I have thoroughly enjoyed each of your conversations. I’d love to hear your personal story & why you felt inspired to create this podcast. Also, I would LOVE to hear from guests who have experienced non-traditional divorces or separations. Such as...when you realize you are actually better off friends & co-parents. Preserving what DOES work. As you have discussed...people evolve in different directions. If we can embrace this fact & drop the shame...then couples can begin fresh & feel empowered to recalibrate. I call it, “Getting cozy in left field”... if we aren’t going to have a cookie cutter marriage or divorce...or some arrangement in between...then we may as well customize it to fit our unique family. Thank you!!

You wish these were your aunties in your kitchen…. You are in luck…pop in your headphones and they are in the kitchen with you. Thoughtfully articulated words from people who have walked through the swamp of divorce. There’s light on the other side.
