Changing mindsets and driving collaboration
This final episode discusses how and why mindsets need to change in order to meet climate goals, and the role COP26 played in focusing minds on the task at hand. Mathias Steck speaks with Ditlev Engel, CEO of the Energy Systems business area at DNV, and Julie Shuttleworth, CEO at Fortescue Future Industries. The episode explores not just the mindset change required by politicians, large companies, and investors, but by those whose positive actions and co-operation are vital to achieving net zero – people and communities all over the world.
COP26 and the outlook for renewables
Renewable energy was a major priority in the COP26 agenda. So did political agreements help to further the cause for wind, solar and other renewable technologies? What more needs to be done to ensure that projects can be developed to meet the world’s energy needs without reliance on fossil fuels?
In this episode, Mathias speaks with Una Brosnan, Head of Offshore Strategy & New Markets at Mainstream Renewable Power.
Financing a just and accelerated transition
A rapid transition to clean power is vital. But how can financing also encourage the creation of a just and equitable transition? Episode four of DNV Talks Energy focuses on risks and opportunities of the energy transition, the disparity between still-developing and developed economies and low carbon adaptations for all types of communities. Mathias Steck speaks with Grace Park-Bradbury, General Manager-West and Head of Strategic Initiatives for climate justice company, BlocPower.
COP26 and mobilizing finance
Delving deeper into the discussions at COP26, this episode focuses on the agreements made, how capital can be redirected in the right way, and where policy and government support is needed to drive this.
Securing net zero by 2050
Welcome to the second episode in the 11th series of DNV Talks Energy, hosted by Mathias Steck. With COP26 now over, this episode explores what’s behind the landmark agreements and initiatives, including the Glasgow Climate Pact, how to speed up global targets and whether achieving net zero by 2050 is now a possibility.
The Road to COP26
COP26 is a once in a generation moment. To meet the Paris Climate Agreement targets, emissions must halve by 2030 to meet a 1.5ºC future, but DNV forecasts they will fall by just 9%, and that the world will already exhaust the 1.5ºC budget in 2029.
In this episode Mathias Steck - Service Area Renewables Northern Europe at DNV, is joined by DNV experts, Al-Karim Govindji, Head of Public Affairs Energy Systems, Hari Vamadevan, Senior Vice President, Regional Director UK & Ireland, and Sverre Alvik, Programme Director for the Energy Transition research programme in looking ahead to COP26. They’ll examine what’s on the agenda for the conference, what the key issues facing world leaders are and what outcomes we can expect from this important summit.
