    Case #049 - The Winchester Mystery House

    Welcome to Episode Forty-Nine of Do You Dare?   This week we’re visiting one of the most bizarre houses possibly ever built that’s lore is maybe even stranger than the property itself.   (Trigger warnings: N/A)   In this episode Em is sharing the story of the Winchester Mystery House, a sprawling 24,000 square foot Victorian mansion that’s construction first began in 1884 and continued for almost 40 years.   From secret passages and hidden rooms to disorienting staircases and a doorway to nowhere this is definitely a property designed to resemble something more akin to a funhouse than a luxurious mansion but the reason that it was created?   Follow along with us as we try to unpick the facts from the legends that surround its creator Sarah Winchester.     Case #047 - Alison Botha

    Welcome to Episode Forty-Seven of Do You Dare?   This week we’re covering a case with facts so unbelievable that if there wasn’t the evidence to back them it would be easy to believe that this was something out of a far fetched and almost inconceivable lifetime movie.   (Trigger warnings: Graphic descriptions of gore and violence, descriptions of rape and sexual assault, mentions of child abuse and molestation, mentions of the occult and satanic beliefs, graphic descriptions of horrific wounds.)   In this episode Em covers the unbelievable case of Alison Botha, the victim of a particular vicious and brutal abduction, rape and attack at the hands of two predators who by all accounts should have actually been in jail at the time it happened rather than out in bail thanks to other similarly horrific acts they’d already committed.   Follow along with us as we explore Alison’s story as well as digging into the background of the two men that were already on a dark and dangerous path of violence against women.
